Frankly, I don't see why Microwave ovens would have any reason to use much power in standby mode. It isn't like they have to warm up 'tubes'. ARM processors are VERY efficient in sleep mode and many display technologies use MICROWATTS of power and then mostly when actually changing displays.

Talk about a tempest in a teapot.
