Actually there are marines in afghanistan using solar energy. The Navy has a goal of reducing it's current petroleum products (along with batteries, ect.) by 50%.(I don't remember the year, but it's within the next 5-10 years). However, it's gonna cost money to convert and implement. And, how much will it end up costing to maintain?

"Military should go green"! I disagree! Can anyone imagine green pants with a white USN jumper or green pants with a USMC dark blue top. lol...
GI Bill, huh, we received $110/month,$990/year; of course prices are all relative. Who ever heard of transferring ones GI Bill funds to a family member. OUR families suffered just as much as present day military families when they are away. In fact, more soldiers were killed on one day,'D-Day', then all the years we have been in Iraq/Afghanistan. Extremely grateful and thank you for your service, but let's be reasonable! Been there, done that!
