Sounds like they are back to the old way. That is the way it should be. No one should just drive onto a military base unless the have a base sticker and/or their ID is verified.

The one thing this article lacks is the "why." Is there a specific reason the base is tightening security?

There is a base-wide exercise. That was answered in the first sentence.

About 1993 and at that time they had guards at the gate. I remember a time prior to that when KAFB had no guards and anyone could drive on. Since then I have had no reason or business to drive onto a military base.
Really

As it should be. When they waved a vehicle past with a base sticker, I felt that they had no clue that those in the car should really be allowed on base. The owner of the car obviously belonged there, but there was no knowledge of the occupants or even if the car was stolen.

Or they just bought the car from "Budget Bobs Car Sales" that some Amn didn't take their sticker off the car before they sold it.

I am sure it has happened. My father always removed his sticker to turn in to get another one.

Wise up people all USAF bases have gone to Bravo. What did NATO just do to that guy in Libya? What did they just find in a basement in Juarez not to long ago...everything but mortars..

Just remember the borders are secure..the borders are secure...the borders are secure.....
