Nice work, Ninny! Anything at all to chip away at the military. One way or another us commies will make a mountain out of a mole hill and destroy this country one tiny step at a time. You go girl!

So this is what she took away from meeting with the veterans?
She is disgusting.
I would really like to know what is in the minds of the people who voted for her.

So can assume that the the fact that 1 in 3 women are sexually assaulted while serving in the military is okay with the tree posts above? Seems like Rep. Tsongas even if she both found the cure for cancer and solved world hunger would still be criticized by a dysfunctional group in her district.

I'm not in ANY WAY condoning bad or criminal behavior toward women - including women in uniform, but…
It was Pres Jimmy Carter who expanded the role of women in our armed service - against the strong advice of combat veterans. Back then there were plenty of veterans with fresh memories of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Liberals wanted women to serve in EVERY branch, in EVERY job. It was seen as 'upward mobility'. Some of us warned how unrealistic, unsafe, and counter-productive that was.
But physical requirements were altered, and away we went into our brave new world. Worse, we went through periods of accelerated promotions of thoroughly un- and under-qualified women 'to make up'.
Anybody remember where BG Janis Karpinski came to light? She was one of the MOST UNQUALIFIED senior officers ever given a star. She was an empty shirt, and we paid dearly for it.
Maybe Niki should be more concerned about toughening standards,- not making things 'easier'. The bad guys are looking for easy targets – like a certain female truck driver who couldn't read a map. Anybody remember the name Jessica Lynch?

Mrs. Tsongas is useless. That she would seize upon this case shows her contempt for the military. I wonder what the sex assault rate is among the Peace Corps that Saint Paul served in?
It was liberals like Niki that jammed women into combat areas (where they STILL linger on the fringe while men continue to do the real fighting) and being assigned to isolated assignments down the military's throat. Carter was an idiot for suggesting it and it was just the beginning of his weakening this country.
Keep men and women separated during their military assignments.
Nike...how about doing something about gas that is about to cost $3.75 a gallon? Do something useful. Oh I forgot..you WANT $4.00 gas to conserve. Isn't "going green just wonderful!".
Get your head out of the clouds.

You cannot win with most of the bitter people on this board, so their comments, even when sometimes on point, just lose steam after a while. Anything with Niki Tsongas in the title, you can guarantee they will flock to the blogs and rip her apart, it doesnt matter what the article is about. Imagine, thse idiots cannot blame the soldiers who assault females, they have to blame Jimmy Carter and Niki Tsongas.. and i thought the Republican Party was the "make no excuses, be responsible for your own actions" party? reminds me of muslims who assault women and then claim its because the women's clothes tempted them and its really the women's fault..

So Ninny, what do you suggest? Maybe a "cease sex" amongst troops serving in a far away land. It's a really really harsh world when we are at war. Go back to Roman times and you'll see rape, pilfering, theft, murder, slaughter, child molestation etc. It hasn't changed through the years. The only thing that's changed is women are now going to war just like the men. Women are not exempt from serving in certain military positions as they once were . It's a bad mix and as a world, we need to stop unisexing and start establishing individual role models male/female.

I served in the Marines in Vietnam and when they opened the ranks to women in combat areas I knew it was a bad idea. Females are nothing but a distraction for the men trying to fight in a foreign land. One in three are assaulted? The answer is simple, Leave the women home!

Women are being sexually asssaulted on the campuses of our military academies. What's you answer to that? Bar them from West Point? When do these men who feel they have the authority and right to do this become accountable? Is it right to blame it on "fighting in a foreign land"?

So it took Nikki Tsongas to attend a meeting with Veterans for this to come to light. How could this be going on without anyone bringing it to the forefront? Thsi is total BS and Tsongas is the worse BS'er of them all. Smarten up.

Well, given that the military is run by men, and no organization circles the wagons and covers up its own falures better than every branch of the military, I'm surprised it came out in a meeting. And, all the posts that are making excuses for men who sexually assault women, shame on you! I don't care where they are and what the conditions of war look like. If a man cannot respect a female soldier enough to not assault her, he should be punished as if he it happened it civil society. It's simply absurd to excuse sex offender just because they're in the military.
