Bob needs to make sure someone is on the ballot with him. Otherwise, a Republican could possibly capture the D nomination. He believes Gontz is a safe pick because there is no way Gontz could defeat Bob Z. However, none of this will matter when James Zeger announces his candidacy in 2 weeks. Zeger will be our next Democrat commissioner.

Great! He says he has spent his entire career in the government. Get ready for him to raise your taxes and blow your money. lol I bet he lives in a big house, and has a even bigger pension. I bet he won't disclose his financiers either.Do he expect us to believe that this is some type of grass roots campaign, and not one of those good old boys. Mr Gontz your the reason for our country problems right now .

I know the Gontz family. Garry has not spent his entire career working for the govt but that's all that was put in the article. He lives in a rancher in Chambersburg not a big ol house. He has just recently retired and the pension is not what you think it would be. As a matter of fact, his wife said she still has to work and will probably bring home more money this year than he does. They drive older vehicles (1998 and a 2002 models.) Garry retired, not because of a big pension, but because he wanted to spend more time with his family and his 85 year old mom. Also, after spending 5 years in D.C., he wanted to reconnect to his community, his church, and his friends - some things are just more important than money.

P.S. If your taxes go up so do his so why would he want to raise taxes or spend like crazy when it impacts him, his family, his friends and all their families? None of them are wealthy so he is just like the rest of us.

So you are saying he doesn't have christian values, and isn't willing to work through problems? Sounds like someone we don't need !

Jezzie, clam up! Your intent is good and your heart is in the right place, but you are not helping Garry. Don't you think it is better for Garry to release information to the public about himself. From what has been said on this thread, the P.O. did not do him any favors by not writing a thorough, complete article about Gontz's candidacy.

You don't know the circumstances of the first marriage. Let it go. I know he wouldn't drag his ex-wife through the mud for your benefit. He's too kind and classy for that.

Let Gontz be his own spokesman. Jezzie appears to be, by her posts, a garroulous gossip.
With "friends" like Jezzie, Gontz won't get far.

I am appalled at where this thread went. Drop the knee jerk reaction to attack him personally based on what you think you know just becasue he belongs to a certain political party and had a career in the government. I am a Republican who works in the private sector, but I also know Garry. He is a good man. He and I may not share the same polical philosophy, but I do not and would not question his morals, his integrity, or his committment to his family or his community. Keep it civil people.

There hasn't been one slanderous thing said or accusation made. You just don't want simple questions asked or answered. You try to make yourself look good ,and give your garbage merit by saying your a republican in the private sector.lol Mr Gontz said he spent his entire career the government and now he wants to back pedal from that statement. It appears things are leaking out the campaign doesn't the voters to know and they are in damage mode. What is really going on here?

If anything Democrats have better christian values then republicans, did Jesus not say "blessed are the poor" and "It is easier for a camel to go threw the eye of a needle then for a rich man to go to heaven"? If Jesus was a senator would he not vote for food stamps, and welfare, and universal healthcare? If you say "no", then you have not read the new testament.
By the way, I dont want to take all of the rich peoples money, I just wanted that stated in case someone would bring that up.

Stupid statement of the day: Democrats have better Christian values than Republicans. It's as dumb as claiming: Republicans have better Christian values than Democrats or Independents have better Christian values than Democrats or Republicans. Oi vey!

I just notice how he trying to play up one marriage of 22 years like he is some great husband.Yet he didn't disclose the failed ones. It just shows he isn't truthful. We don't need a commissioner that doesn't have christian values.

Hey Joke, Question, truth, lol, and funny.

Any idea you are all one and the same person? You're all showing "Strasburg, PA" and all have the same slanderous tone to your messages.

I don't know Garry Gontz, but am willing to give anyone a try after the terrible performance that the 3 current commissioners have demonstrated. If he is willing to listen to the voters and represent our wishes, then give him a chance.
