You can't have 50 million people on food stamps for very long. You would have to take ALL the wealth of the few rich folks and hand it out to the criminal morons and all they would do is have ten kids and then soon you will have 500 million morons on food stamps.
What is coming next is taking the big SS and Medicare from those who are on big gov. and union pensions retired. Suddenly not only will there be 50 million poor people, the old folks who didn't save one cent won't be able to live fat on the gov. much longer either.
There is NO way a few rich people can pay for all of that crap - for 80 million old useless dumb spend thrift morons to get SS and Medicare AND for another 50 million nonworking useless low IQ morons to reproduce on welfare.
How many of those people have IQs above 100 and could complete one college class or save their own money?? One out of one million, maybe, so their value is zero or actually, since they are huge financial liabilities, their value is minus 10.
Wow, can't you just feel the love and compassion for your fellow man.....

I listened to the talking heads talk about it on the sunday news shows today. That boner guy is right, is time to make some cuts, all obama can think of is raise taxes. We need to make the government something we can afford. Get rid of the things we don't need at the federal level and we wont have these problems.

Why should rich people pay more ? Why do you deserve not to pay more while they do?

The rich should pay more because they benefited the most from the govt we all finance.

Yes we need to cut spending too, but until we get our debt under control, those who CAN afford to pay more are going to have to pay more.

Hang on here I am kind of missing things, got a roofing company and nobody paid for nothing but me. The government would not loan me any money and the bank would only do it credit market went in the tank. Sold as much stuff as I could cashed in all my savings and my retirement to get started. Barely got by and only was able to grow by doing a better job than everyone else and building a reputation with my sweat. I just don't see what you or the government had to do with it. The government is right here now with its hand in my pocket but it it had all failed they would be no were around to pay the price.

Lets see, I gave 4 people jobs that the government does not have to pay unemployment or welfare to and they pay taxes with the money I pay them, I don't get any better services now than when I had less money, I am must not seeing it, why should I pay more than you should if I do?

I kind of think if I pay more then I should get more out of the government not just get the privilege of supporting a bunch of non working asses. I am less of a burden on the government by paying for all my health care, that of my kids and a part of my 4 employees, so explain again why I should be punished with paying a higher rate in taxes.

What was it again you did to deserve a better rate, I would like that.

Top tax rates used to be 70%, 80%, even 90% in the 1950's. Those "good old days" everyone harks back to when we had relative peace & prosperity.

What's the top tax rate now? 39%?

The rich were still rich then and they'll still be rich now if they pay more taxes.

And how do you think you got your "savings & retirement" to be able to cash in to start your business?

I never said the govt gave it to you. Yes, you obviously worked hard and saved or invested, but where did that money come from in the first place? You didn't just make that out of thin air. Without our economy & infrastructure & stock market etc, you would never have had the opportunity to earn the money to make those savings.

So you benefited from our free market economy; congratulations on your business.

Btw, how successful do you think your business would be without the taxpayer funded roads & utilities needed to operate any business? Or did you build your own road to every house that you shingle?

As you well know, people didn't pay that on all of their earnings, not even most of their earnings.

there were HUGE deductions before tax and then only the last bit above a certain point was taxed at those 90% rates.

posting things you know to be lies doena't really help your argument.

we had relative prosperity then (for the white people..)because our economy was rebuilding the world after WWII it would have been hard to slow that economic engine down if one tried to...

Businesses also rely on the legal system and regulatory systems we have set up in the US.(thus ensuring that one's hard work is not undercut by people who cheat...)

again another reason why we ALREADY have avery progressive tax system.

In my state, the top 1% of earners,(not population, far fewr, the 1% EARNERS) pay over 25% of ALL income tax revenue garnered! over 25%!!!

Just as there are currently HUGE deductions before tax and then only the last bit above a certain point is taxed. But now that last bit is only taxed at 39%.

They's why Buffet and Romney and Gates and all the other rich pay a lower EFFECTIVE tax rate than many of their employees, inspite of having a higher marginal tax rate.

I don't have to think of where I got it, I worked hard for it and while other people were seeing what they could buy I made the choice of living cheap and saving while others were spending.

In case you are not aware the government did not build the economy or the stock market, hard working people did and people built the government. People have needed a roof over their heads since they came out of caves and the government did nothing to create this need.

The infrastructural benefits everyone, if it were not for an infrastructure you might not have a job but I don't hear you saying people who drive on roads to get to jobs should pay more, why me.

I don't even need a road, you need a roof over your house and unless you have a bunch of trees to cut down, section and split into shingles you will have to pay someone. If there are no roads you simply have to pay more to get me there.

You will always have difficulty answering this question because you don't like to talk about the truth.

The answer is that the reason the rich have to pay more than their fair share is that we spend so much money there is not other way to do it and rather than control our appetite for spending we would rather take someone who already pays more than we do and make them pay even more.

Yes I did build that.

and that loser effective rate turns into far, far more taxes in real dollars, which is what pays for your gov't.

That's because they have most of the INCOME in the state.

Who do you expect to pay those taxes? The poor? With what, their food stamps or monopoly money?

Of course the rich pay a lot of taxes; they have all the money.

I doubt you would find a single poor or middle class person who would complain about paying even a 99% effective tax rate in exchange for making $1 billion a year in income.

It would be tough, but I think I could survive on the remaining $10 million a year....

Do you think our economy or the stock market or modern infrastructure would exist without our government?

EVERYONE is going to have to pay more in taxes because EVERYONE benefits from our deficit spending one way or another, and NO ONE is willing to give up THEIR benefits.

So we're left with those who CAN pay the most WILL pay the most.

Btw, I DO think people who drive on roads should pay more, which is why I support raising the gas tax or increasing toll roads.
