<quoted text>You blame the commenter's attitude for the demise of downtown Stillwater? You must be related to the buffoon mayor of Stillwater! The reason no one from Stillwater goes downtown is because there is nothing left down there to go to! Why fight the traffic and pollution to get there? Even downtown has given up on downtown! It looks like a dead town. The city doesn't pay to clean it up. There is graffiti on the buildings. And even the businesses only put up temporary signs because they don't think they'll be around long enough for permanent signs. The ugly condos at the end of Main St. aren't even half occupied and now they're rentals. Good planning Stillwater!. And now the buffoon is proposing a $700 million dollar bridge between the current bridge and another huge bridge 6 milies away. So what if the WI commuters are inconvenienced. SIX miles to another bridge. The Stillwater buffoon is in cahoots with WI developers and bridge builders. You can be sure he's filling his pockets by supporting a monstrosity of a bridge. Downtown Stillwater is a blight. But when the bridge is closed and the WI commuter traffic is gone, downtown Stillwater draws more tourists than ever. In fact, even the locals meander down there for a look see. But that is the only time we go because for now, the traffic issue is unbearable. But a $700 million dollar bridge anywhere close to Stillwater is not the answer. That is only the answer to the buffoons running Stillwater who are dreaming of the kick back money they're gonna get for promoting such a joke.
Stillwater will have a chance to grow a real downtown..once thar stinky traffic problem is solved with that new bridge.

Gezzzzzz...you didn`t read the piece? Or is it just that you are so far removed from what`s been going on there, your lost in fog and commenting like a fool? Maybe you should stay in the windy city. I don`t want to pay for your welfare babies anyway.

Bachmann you go girl, this bridge represents freedom and unlimited new business opportunities. Four lanes minimum and maybe six......
This Bridge represents TAXES, we can't afford!!! Why should I pay for a bridge for only 17,000 people use. For less money, a Vikings stadium can hold 60,000 people, and most live in Minnesota! And I'm not even for that! Let Wisconsin build the bridge to nowhere.

The National Park Service blocked construction last fall when it reversed an opinion it issued five years earlier and ruled the bridge should not be allowed because it would conflict with the U.S. Wild and Scenic Rivers Act.

JUST TUNNEL A HIGHWAY UNDER THE RIVER. BUT THE POLITCIANS AND THE ENGINEERS AND THE GOVERNMENT IN THE UNITED STATES CAN'T THINK THAT DEEPLY ABOUT THE OBVIOUS SOLUTION.

This was the first time Dayton has taken a stand on the issue. It puts him at odds with Democratic U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum, who has pledged to do "everything in my power" to defeat Bachmann's bill and protect the St. Croix.

The governor also rejected a plea from a coalition of environmental groups and St. Croix advocates to support a smaller bridge.
