Deduction targeted by GOP used by tax filers in most states

There are 24 comments on the WTEN-TV Albany story from Nov 18, 2017, titled Deduction targeted by GOP used by tax filers in most states. In it, WTEN-TV Albany reports that:

A popular deduction targeted in the GOP's overhaul of the tax code is used by more than a quarter of all filers in a majority of states, including many led by Republicans where some residents eventually could see their federal tax bills rise. The exact effect in every state isn't known, in part because of differences in the Senate and House versions of the bill.

This is simply wrong. Occupied California has the highest tax rates in the nation. Whenever the occupying Democrats engineer yet another tax increase to be put on the ballot, California taxpayers wholeheartedly express their "democracy" by voting for it. It is likely Californians are no different from taxpayers in other high tax States. They don't need no stinkin' deductability on their federal tax return.

If taxpayers wanted less taxation, they would insist the State's occupying Democrats lower State taxes. That would effectively result in a 100% federal tax deduction, rather than the puny 25% or 35% deduction they get now.

They don't seem too ready to specify the actual tax but I believe they refer to the mortgage interest deduction....something that will be a problem for new home buyers.

This really shouldn't be about tax cuts. It should be about more responsible and efficiant government....but that won't ever come up, I'm sure

Exactly. All the mortgage interest deduction does is to cause housing costs to soar - something Democrat politicians euphemistically term "an increase in value". Soaring housing costs create homelessness and associated disease in the community. Let us not forget too, that the federal tax "deduction" of State taxes - only amounts to a relatively small percentage - if any - of the taxes actually paid. Every $Dollar decrease in State taxes, though, effectively results in a 100% deduction.

What kind of a Demonic-controlled, Greedy, TEApublican Congress do we have in place, that let School-Children go hungry, while giving the Wealthiest ONE-Percent IMMEASURABLE TAX-BREAKS, worth TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS?

Exactly. "The poor" do not pay taxes, but violent Democrat party bosses know that they can drive them to ballot box frenzy by making them believe the tax code is somehow cheating them. And you are also right, Ms Sassy, when you say the idea of the negative income tax was first proposed by President Richard M Nixon.(A White president) It is the negative income tax that allows "the poor" to live of the labor of the more industrious amongst us.

Actually, changes in mortgage rates for adjustable rate mortgages only come into effect after price has been agreed on. And yes. inflated house prices primarily benefit the tax man. That is especially so in States where the violent Democrat party is in control. The federal income tax deduction - if any - might amount to 25%- 35%, but every $dollar decrease in property tax effectively results in a 100% deduction.

Exactly. CONs have confirmed that they're willing

to destroy house prices and any home equity, to

reward their 1%er elitist donors with $1+ Trillion in

undeserved tax breaks. You're right. CONs don't

care about the financially-struggling middle class.

You must be so proud to be just a CON apologist.

Exactly. The best thing the corrupt politicians could do is to jump aboard the Trump tax reform bandwagon. The corrupt real estate industry promotes the idea that, somehow, homeowners are getting some kind of "benefit" by getting a minor percentage deduction on their federal income tax forms for mortgage interest and property taxes paid. In turn that causes hysteria among the children who then rush out and buy an unaffordable home as "an investment". A place to live is only a secondary consideration. That hysteria plays out as increased demand which, in turn, further increases the cost of housing and property taxes. Meanwhile, the greedy bankers patiently await the arrival of the greatest fool.

Exactly. Tax experts have correctly identified the

fact that Deadbeat Donnie would personally pay

Millions $S less in Federal Taxes. So Donnie's self-

dealing and personally profiting, while he supports

tax Reform that'd rip off any American who doesn't

make at least $70,000/year. Why does Donnie hate

the Middle and Lower classes? So sad, Donnie, sad!
