If you own a gun or have a concealed carry license, you have been assaulted. Max Brantley, Managing Editor, of the Arkansas Times, took it upon himself to acquire the list of those who have an Arkansas concealed carry license and then posted their names and addresses to the Arkansas Times’ website.

This is a violation of our privacy laws isnt it? They need to be sued by every single person with a concealed carrying permit.

Boy, Carol is right. As conservative Americans we have to do the same to the WRONG Wingers as they have done to us for years. Go after them in a CONSTITUTIONAL Court! They may be like Geitner and have no clue what constitutional means! But it is time that we started filing suits!

Way to go, Carol. Any takers?

If you do a search of the Arkansas Times website, there is no such article or list that I can find. However, there are still certain people who think that the name of ANY gun owner should be made public. There's also a proposed bill that would prohibit the release of names of concealed carriers.

This stuff here was published before my husband got his, but I'm going to keep my eye on it. If anyone does happen to find this so-called list, please post a link.

Yeah, but that's a whole lot different than the info being posted on the Internet.

Give Obama time. This administration is working diligently to make having an unregistered gun a felony.

But it's nobody's business on a newspaper website who has a license to carry concealed.

I would guess that since a person took a public course in order to carry a concealed fire arm its simply public information in the first place.
I cant imagine the Arkansas Times printing information about citizens knowing there would be thousands of law suits. They knew it was public information just like any other public license. Its kind of like someone takeing a picture of another person out in public. Most people dont like it and become angry, espcially police. But what are they afraid of ? That someone might let the public know they were out in public?
I bet you would want to know if you had a guest over quite often if he carried a gun. Bet if you had a score to settle with someone you might like to know if he had a 45 in his jacket. Look from both sides and then decide. One side will get you a half a$$ opinon. I look at both sides and dont even get half a s s sometimes. Now dont go around telling anyone I said this cause its private. Aint it?

The Times printing the list is exactly what I posted about to begin with: I never found such a list on their website.

I don't know if it's considered a 'public' class because certain criteria has to be met by the student beforehand. Not just any and everybody can take the class. I don't know how that works out legally.

If a person comes to my house regularly, I think I have the right to know, but not necessarily demand, whether he/she is packing, but I don't think that it should necessarily be a matter of public knowledge. People carry concealed for a variety of reasons. Our violent neighbor is a good excuse.

In this and age you can't look at both sides and come to any conclusion. Political correctness and everybody's 'rights' get in the way of that.

Mr.(& I use the term loosly) Brantley probably took the test & failed the requirments to have a permit. So now he is POed & just like a spoiled child, he wants to make those who get their permits suffer.
But I beleave there are privacy laws that were violated here.
Altho now the damage is done now & he needs to be held accountable for his actions.

sowhatnow, you make my blood boil. If you had something that you knew criminals wanted to steal, would you want someone directing them to your house? That's exactly what such a list would accomplish. Where I live, thieves scout the obituaries so they know when to rob a house, when they know that no one will be there. And in Arkansas, it is law that a concealed carry licensee MUST notify the occupants of a private home if he has a gun at their house.

Sorry for not being completely clear. The obituary gives thieves the time of the funeral, which is when no one is at the house.
