Authorities execute major drug bust in Pittsfield

Full story: North Adams Transcript

City police, FBI, ATF and DEA agents carried out three simultaneous, daytime drug raids on Thursday afternoon - and the result should help stem the recent violence that has plagued Pittsfield over the past several months, law enforcement officials said.

Get them all off the streets and out of Berkshire County. Good job! Hopefully they won't be released on bail but locked up.

Oh great, start with the kkk crap - like that's going to make anything better. This dealer's dad probably gets taken care of financially from the profits - that's why he's angry - this bust probably interrupted his income source. It's wrong, no doubt, but the central issue here is poverty and the obsession with the acquisition of money - by any means - that extended poverty breeds. It's also about ignorance, on both sides of the fence.

1.It is wrong, no doubt.
2.It is the "get rich or die tryin'" criminal mentality born out of poverty fueling the drug and violence trades. The Somalian pirates are a prime example.
3. It is a supply and demand issue. Curb the demand through public health education (similar to the anti-tobacco campaign) and legalization and you'll see the dealers scurry like cockroaches.

There wouldn't be addicts if there weren't dealers. I hope the DA'soffice had all their I's dotted and T's crossed so some Judge can't throw out the "illegally obtained evidence" or deny the original warrant because barney misled the Judge who signed it by leaving out some important tidbit of info. I have seen this happen a couple times in Mass. It almost looks like the judges look for a reason to throw out the case. I haven't seen a public defender yet who actually tries to defend the clients they are assigned. They act more like someone from lets make a deal.

Yeah, those Constitutional rights are a bitch, aren't they? It's a good thing citizens would never need protection against bully cops with bad attitudes, or the right to defend themselves before they get thrown in jail forever for selling a handful of $20 rocks. But if there were no dealers, there'd be no addicts, right?

Wonder if agents from FBI, DEA and ATF took in that Tanglewood thing over the weekend.

This is getting to be a regular stop for them. Could be that's what's behind the airport expansion. Soon, we'll have C-5s landing here.

GREED, I blame society for inadequately helping our young and growing kids to discover interests and goals. However, this country would rather send money to other countries to protect our oil interests than provide the support beginning at a young age that allow the support and guidance to develop into productive people. Years of drugs and poverty, and now, with internet and no more values except money drug dealing becomes a quick way to have a chance at the "American Dream" that isn't equally available to others. Perhaps if some people could get off outside their lily white protective shells and began to learn how it really is before passing judgement future lives could obtain goals and dreams that could happen. But, the government would prefer to cut education and arts and music, and areas that could develop children. There needs to be after school programs, but these to close because there is shortages of money. So, we deny our citizens their inevitable rights from the beginning. Imagine for a moment that you are living in the US and everything you see is somehow related to get, get, get...Because, the more you have the bigger the cars, money and jewelry can make the miserable world filled with drugs, sexual and physical abuse fill the damaged sole. When it is drugs it is this awful and unforgivable offense, yet, white collar crimes happen daily and millions of dollars are laundered, and people don't want to pay more taxes, but for decades the tax rates were extraordinarily high. It is incredible complicated and the layers are run deep! I am not condoning the dealing just trying to understand how locking up so many people and not providing rehabilitation before it gets to this level of dealing which involves so much gov't money to prosecute and the cost of prison...Change needs to happen from the bottom up and before another generation is lost it needs to happen now!
