Full story: www.ammoland.com

That is why the best course of action is to go through a licensed gun shop that has consignment services. That way every party is protected.

"Gun owners should always be careful to ask the right questions of potential firearms buyers when selling guns privately so as to avoid illegally selling to a felon or someone from out of state."

- Are you now, or have you ever been a liberal?
- If you are a criminal, would you tell me?
- Promise you are not lying, OK?

Those extra questions and asking for an additional $50 for the background check should cover you. Just so you know, it doesn't always work, I asked my hunting buddy to answer all the questions when he wanted to buy my old shotgun and he just told me to kiss his a$$- go figure.

Maybe you wouldn't mind being arrested then if you sold a firearm to a violent criminal that used it in a crime and it got recovered, and since you never reported it stolen, your name pops up in the database after the serial numbers are traced. But oh wait, you say the serial numbers were filed off, you obviously don't understand that all firearms manufacturers are required to testfire a round, in which the bullet is recovered and sent to the ATF, and the stria (rifling print) is then logged into the system, to be shared by ALL police agencies.

You would then be charged as either an accessory, or maybe they might want to try you as the actual perp.

Think before you spout off at the mouth.

Prove to me the rifling print is the same for every .38 special sold in America.

The rifling changes on all firearms after use. I have upgraded a lot of parts on most of my guns (firing pins, bolts, barrels, ect.) There is nothing to trace.

There is also no point in filing off the serial number of a firearm either. This would turn a perfectly legal firearm into an illegal firearm that you do not want to be in possession of.

Firearms are not registered in your state of Nevada or my state of Washington. Private sells are perfectly legal if you had no reason to believe the purchaser was a convicted felon. You can privately sell a gun to one person who might privately sell it to another person.

Being the last person to obtain it from a licensed gun dealer means nothing. After 10 years all records of firearm purchasers are required to be destroyed by law. Gun registration is unconstitutional. You do not need to register anything in order to exercise a constitutionally protected right.

Here in New York private handgun sales are almost impossible but rifles and shotguns may be sold freely. I have purchased both rifles and shotguns by paying cash with no reciept. They are not being used for any criminal activity but it's MY business that I bought them and nobody elses.
