CU professors double-down on prediction of Romney win due to economic factors

By TIM HOOVER
The Denver Post

Barack Obama, Kenneth Bickers, Michael Barry, Mitt Romney, University of Colorado
Remember the University of Colorado professors who predicted Mitt Romney would win the election because of economic factors – despite national pollsters predicting President Barack Obama well ahead?

Well, political science professors Kenneth Bickers of CU-Boulder and Michael Berry of CU Denver have updated their model and say the new data still shows a Romney win.

According to the updated analysis, Romney would get 330 Electoral College votes to Obama’s 208 votes, even less than the 218 the pair predicted during the summer and still well short of the 270 needed to win.

Thanks to ledumbo for a classic:

My name is Le Jimbo--I do not work---I live in my parents basement---and I hate the USA for electing a black president. Every day of my life I sit in my parents basement and make ignorant comments on TOPIX. I have made 76,534 comments on Topix in the last 3 1/2 years which comes out to about 60 post per day. I average several post per hour and I never leave my seat. For a matter of fact, my mom empties my pee bottle once a day and brings me a bag Cheetos every two hours. I watch faux news constantly and touch myself every time I hear rush limbaugh's voice. No, I am not weird I am a typical tea party piece of crap! If you are like me please vote for romney/ryan

Dude,
You are just totally lame.
But I don't think you live in your mom's basement. I'm sure she quit trying to help you years ago.
Your cut and paste skills are incredible, kudos.
Your posts without "teleprompter" are useless in everyway.

The choice is clear on Nov 6th. You can vote for the Mormon or you can vote for the Moron.

We have the Obama theory verses the Romney theory on dealing with the rising debt. Let me explain

Let's say you come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood. Your home has sewage all the way up to your ceilings.

What do you think you should do?

Raise the ceilings or pump out the sh!t?

Your choice is coming in November. Don't miss the opportunity.

What a shame for the draft dodger: all Americans get to vote, including Americans of color, even as hard has the GOP has tried to keep them from the polls.

You can vote for Obama, or you can vote for the moron who wants to give trickle down economics one more try.

The only question now is: will Romney ever specific on anything?

People know where the sh!t came from: two Bush wars and two Bush recessions and a tax cut that changed the budget surplus into the deep hole we are in now.

Romney promises to return to the "good old days" of Bush economics.

Third time's a charm, right?

Then Obama should be running away with the poll numbers but we know just the opposite is happening. The actual unemployment number is about 11% and is worse for blacks and Hispanics. Nowsome businesses are converting workers to part time to avoid the consequences of Obamacare. Obama's vision of America is turning into a nightmare.

Obama is promoting trickle down poverty and it seems to be workng for him.

"The youth unemployment rate for 18-29 year old African-Americans for August 2012 is 22.4 percent (NSA); the youth unemployment rate for 18-29 year old Hispanics for August 2012 is 13.7 percent (NSA); and the youth unemployment rate for 18–29 year old women for August 2012 is 12.6 percent (NSA).

The declining labor participation rate has created an additional 1.7 million young adults that are not counted as "unemployed" by the U.S. Department of Labor because they are not in the labor force, meaning that those young people have given up looking for work due to the lack of jobs.

If the labor force participation rate were factored into the 18-29 youth unemployment calculation, the actual 18-29-unemployment rate would rise to 16.7 percent (NSA).

He doesn't have to run away with the poll numbers, he only needs 270 electoral votes.

Romney is promising to take us back to trickle down economy the Bush administration: it's been in all the papers.

Only he's doubled down, he wants to increase the tax cuts to the rich, and then figure out how to pay for the five trillion later...

The Bureau of Labor has been counting unemployment the same way for forty years.

If you want to compare apples to apples, then you want to make sure to change the stats going back to Reagan (for example)- when his trickle down economics caused the worse unemployment the US has seen since the Great Depression.

You might also look as to the cause of the unemployment: Bush's trickle down economy and his TWO recessions in one administration.
