again, the system is not broke, the money was just stolen from it. SS has paid for itself and then some. it still is.
the fact that the money was used for something else does not mean it is broken in any way, it means its funds were mismanaged.
You are repeating the same total Nonsense over and over and in 1937 the SCOTUS said there is nothing special about the Social Security Tax which is treated like any other tax and I posted the link to the Social Security Adminstration's website where it states there is no rights to Social Security which the SCOTUS confirmed in 1960 which proves Social Security does not work epecially when the Federal Government is involved. economically.

let Individuals invest on their own and save just like to and it was theirs vs involving the Federal Government who wants to tax people to put money into their Ponzi Scheme that people have no rights to and it funny since you brought up Bernie Madoff, Bernie was doing nothing different than what the Federal Government has been doing for years with Social Security which operates as a Ponzi Scheme and the only difference is its illegal for somebody like Berine to operate one but its legal for the Federal Government to operate one which is the US Treasury General Fund which it is in trouble.

Bernie was doing nothing like SS has been doing for years. Bernie was promising annual returns of 15 to 20 percent on investments. Greedy teabag Repubs couldn't help themselves from jumping on that. SS benefits are tied to COLA. And since SS to you is a ponzi scheme, you'll be sure not to claim any benefits, now won't you?

Oh wow, look at those brilliant rebuttals! "Jump off a bridge," great 'bagger advice you can only wish they themselves would take. But please, jump off a bridge over a ravine, not into the water - we don't need more water pollution...:)

<quoted text>well, take that "it's safer there..." talk to all the people who lost their retirement funds in the last market crash.
now if we have a large portion of our nation whose ENTIRE retirement fund was lost, what do we do then as a society? how much will that cost us?
If that were to happen, I suppose the employee would lose his contribution. A very small SS check based on the employer's contribution is still there.

Jesus, another idiot who babbles inanely about Social Security, aimlessly repeating the idiotic talking points he's learned from Rightedia sites.

Social Security is NOTHING like a Ponzi scheme, moron. You don't know what a Ponzi scheme is - or you don't know what SS is. Most likely you simply don't know much of ANYTHING.

Again, I don't think anyone said anything about privatizing social security. I've only heard of an employee being able to put his contribution toward where he wants. The employer still pays into the system. You and your employer both pay payroll taxes. I certainly wouldn't put money into the stock market.

You don't? Not only did Lyin' Ryan propose privatizing SS, he also proposed privatizing Medicare. You're a teabagger that doesn't even know what his teabag representatives are even doing.

In 1940 the ratio of workers to collectors was about 160 to 1. In 2010 the ratio of workers to collectors was 2.9 to 1. If Ponzi scheme is semantics, remember that progressives have turned everything into pain and suffering for all. Although there are COLAS the real inflation is not added to beneficiaries checks. Instead a made up one is. On the medicare side, the liars are now admitting that death panels are coming. Death panels is semantics. But it is a ponzi scheme in increasing the cemetery count earlier instead of later. Saul Alinsky lives!

Ryan's proposal was to allow a worker,[voluntarily] to divert 1/3 of his social security payroll tax contribution to a private fund. It raised the contributions of the upper 70% incomes while reducing their benefits. It raised the age threshold to 67. Not hardly privatized. Raising the upper income contributions should be right up your alley.

The Medicare plan involves for flexibility to the states to administer the plans adding block grants to the states. It also involved vouchers to lower incomes and raised the contributions to upper incomes while lowering benefits to the upper incomes.

Where is the privatization?

Social Security Tax has been going up ever since 1935 which by law was never to exceed 1% on the Employer and 1% on the Employee which Social Security is operating like a Ponzi Scheme.

I see desperation is showing on your part especially when you have to alter the quoted text besides since you cant do it without the Federal Government's Social Welfare Program, its you that better take your own advice and take the plunge and get it over with.

like I said you are a proven Idiotic Moron that knows nothing about Economics except depending on the Federal Government to take from one to provide for the ones that don't want to provide for themselves and yes Social Security is based on a Ponzi Scheme because by Law Social Security was never to exceed 1% on the Employer and 1% on the Employee and since 1935 it has been going up just like a Ponzi Scheme operates and Remember the Political Left on the SCOTUS in 1960 ruled Individuals have no rights to Social Security.
