i hope this woman fully recovers.
it's interesting the way attorneys view things, " the girder pierced the plane after it was hit"
not
the plane hit the girder, which would make it pilot error and no lawsuit.
in the end we ALL pay more for products because of our litigative society.

Since my husband has landed there a few times he was interested in this article and he agrees it was pilot error.

i don't fly planes. but the grirder was and is sitting still, it was the plane that was moving. it would be like me punching someone in the face and then saying their face ran into my fist, laughable. shows how the legal system will twist FACTS to try and make a case.

hope all is well......

Yes, I like that. I see militaristic parades, with goose-stepping soldiers carrying giant portraits of me.

The lawyer was probably trying to say the fence 'should have been designed' such that no parts of it would pierce the airplane, etc. That it would crumple perfectly and perfectly absorb the impact.

The irony is that the guy was landing in super dense fog, if I remember, probably trying to avoid overshooting the runway, which is how the last planeload of people died right there. There was a business transport that overshot, hit the fence right there, and 8 of 9 people aboard burned to death.

What makes me sick is that the woman who is suing was injured by her own husband's botched landing.

I tracked down the original story... I think the scorch marks on the fence are from the earlier accident when the plane overshot the runway and crashed into the fence.
