One could flip that around and ask if PP's services are so essential, why isn't it self-sustaining instead of taking mass infusions of taxpayer monies?
BTW, religions aren't subsidized-they're exempted. The government doesn't pay their taxes for them-it doesn't assess them.
because they serve the poor.

not having to pay taxes is a subsidy? how long do you think all the cathedrals and basilicas and such with prime real-estate would last if they had to pay their fair share of taxes? they would be the hottest nightclubs within a year or two...

yes, your faith is subsidized.

Then who is paying to make up for their lack of paying property taxes for their massive PALACES??

The tax payer...thats who.

Subsidy-

c : a grant by a government to a private person or company to assist an enterprise deemed advantageous to the public

Again, 501c's are exempted, not subsidized.

Oh-I thought you were talking about PP-they're tax exempt, but they get HUGE amounts of ACTUAL subsidy from taxpayers.

My mistake.

So let's summarize:

Tax exemptions: PP and the CC tie.

Tax subsidies: PP =$542 million (46 percent of Big Abortion's total budget). CC = zippo

$542 million ain't bad for an organization whose contraception services have dropped by 12 percent since 2009, and whose cancer-screening and prevention services have dropped by 29 percent, But hey, abortions are booming. Chalk it up to good clinic placement (78 percent in minority neighborhoods) and aggressive marketing.

So who's making out like bandits here?

Ahem! She has already publicly and formally renounced her Catholicism every time she opens her liberal mouth in support of abortion and homosexuality! She's been a heretic for years. It's about time the Church ousted this witch.

And what rhymes with bigot? Why idiot, of course! What does priest molestig children have to do with it???? Ah, the sexual abusers of children want plenty more to abuse! If they can't keep their filthy hands off of children, stop aiding and abettng these monsters and then spending the money parishoners think they're giving to do the lords work to lawyers to defend these priest or large settlements, they don't have a damn thing to say! They can rally around when it's the abortion issue or against birth control, but keep their hyporitical mouths shut and gather together to protect a filthy, pedophile???? GTHOH!

I think it's time to oust the catholic church and chase it back to the roman shores from which it came. Their blind misogynistic bigoted phallic worshipping followers not to mention pedophile embracers can brattle along behind them like the ignorant sheep they are. Don't let the door smack you upside your flat head on the way out. Bon Voyage!

And the wealth of the CC provides what? Besides lawyer fees and payouts to the families they have destroyed while accommodating their pedophile priests? Sure they sprinkle around a few charitable things to save face while vatican city drips in gold and poverty continues. They have never cured that, nor do they intend to, it was NEVER in the plan. They are the most corrupt corporation of all time, blood on their hands all in the name of "god".

Ditto! Go outside the Vatican and see the poverty that surrounds them! Anyone that thinks that Jesus would go for that is nuts! The Roman Catholic Church is an living extension of the Holy Roman Empire, period! Even with them messing with little boys and girls!

They run one of the largest, if not THE largest, faith-based charitable enterprise in the US and worldwide.

They run many hospitals and also run fine schools, where one can learn that poverty can't be "cured". Sorry you didn't avail yourself of that opportunity.

Satan can transform himself into an angel of light when he chooses too. The church is a business, not a religion. When it's sins outweight any good, that shows that God is not there. The church has surpressed knowledge or destroyed it in order to push forward its dogma which is more important than the holy word. The stigma of priest preying on children that are left in their charge by people believing they're representing our creator and then used for ungodly purposes is unforgiveable before man and God. There's no way around it or to explain it. The church has betrayed people place and destroyed many people's faith and turned them away from God and God is not pleased.

I feel for you but it's best you follow God's dictates and not mans if you truly want to please God.

Sure....they run businesses under the guise of charitable which I am more than certain they are not accountable to report their finances to anyone but themselves. They seem bound to running the medical industry/hospitals where they want to operate outside of US law and free reign to deny women life saving measures in lieu of fetus worship.

The cost of their charity is high, my family only needed to unbeknowingly offer up my brother as an altar boy to one of their pedophile priests. But don't worry Dan, once the "whispering" started they quietly moved their pedophile to a new parish where others could unbeknowingly offer up their children.

They and their "charity" is a joke.

Exactly. The LAST place I would voluntarily go to for real medical care is a Catholic hospital. As far as I'M concerned, the "care" they provide for women is practically non-existent.

Reading your posts has almost convinced me that there's something to your statement that "the church has suppressed knowledge".

Whatever they did seems to have worked on you.

But, by all means keep telling us what God is pleased or displeased about.
