Several dozen students from South Broward High School took a public stand against gun violence Friday and for gun control. It's not about gun control. It's about your kids being nice to those less fortunate than they are. Jeremy spoke in class today.

Sure, we know it's not about effective gun control laws because of all the killings of 17 and 22 and 58 persons in mass knifings.

Students should not mouth naive things, whether for a good cause or not. They know, of course, that this Miami one will be far from the last mass, school shooting.

This gun violence is the result of progressives and progressive policies. The children are crying out, but the progressives refuse to protect them with armed security.

These same progressives guard their money, their property and even themselves with armed security, but they refuse to protect America's children with armed security.

Why? Because they want to eventually repeal the 2nd Amendment. Sacrificing our children is merely one of the vehicles progressives are using to get there.

The progressive Democrats could prove me wrong by securing our schools with armed officers trained to stop this kind of violence. But the Progressive Democrats won't protect our children because they have more important political goals on their minds.

We all know the above is true.

Even law enforcement has been politicized by the progressive leftists. Perhaps if the FBI hadn't been busy chasing after nothing in their efforts to get President Trump impeached, then these kids would be alive today! How else can they explain ignoring the tip that should have lead to the shooter's detainment?

Lots of those FBI contractors on those tip lines are black women. Mystery solved?

I don't think so.

People like Mueller and Comey have a history of ignoring tips that would have lead to the guilty party.

The FBI is being run by progressives. They were clearly too busy trying to get President Trump to even pay attention to a potential terrorist attack on one of our schools.

Mystery solved.

I doubt Mueller and Comey have/had the time to check in on tip lines throughout the nation. Nope, I bet dollars to donuts that we can chock up this lapse in FBI protocol to a lazy black woman. Time will tell.

I love the right wing's addled thinking about "arming teachers." If it doesn't hate teachers it hates their unions and considers them incompetent and lazy...but magically not to wield handguns in a crowded classroom.

Many schools already have a literal police presence on site every day, just like schools used to have nurses on site.

Then there's the specter of classroom disputes - physical attacks on teachers are far from rare - and a student knowing the teacher has a handgun somewhere on her, in her desk, in her purse. I bet the deaths from incidents arising from all that would quickly eclipse the total deaths in these mass shooting episodes...which the police usually react to very quickly.(Unlike with the Pulse nightclub spree killing.)

It's violence, racism, authoritarian "solutions," anti rationality from the right wing on issue after issue after issue.

Whether or not you were sufficiently beaten to a pulp by your peers in school, the issue is still that guns enable killing 17 or 22 or 58 people in a way that knives do not. And in fact it's certain kinds of guns which enable those mass fatalities.

Bullying and mental health might be part of it, but not 58 people shot dead in ten minutes part of it. That has to do with high powered weaponry.

You're deflecting. And you sound unstable, btw. It sounds like there's a lot of domestic violence throughout your life. You're probably really into corporal punishment as a "child rearing" technique, too.

Israel trains and arms its citizenry and teachers with guns, thus limiting these tragedies there, even as they are surrounded by terrorists and the Leftists supporting them. Horrible tragedy struck in Russia with terrorists killing many children and the country's response of increased security was effective. Example after example of the effectiveness of increased training and security exist, but the shrill and unstable reactions from the stupid, drugged political Left in America continues to misdirect our young people. The Leftist Democrats and their druggie minions want America not armed and not trained in order to have criminals, terrorists and crazy, doped-up killers the only people with guns. Every State allowing armed citizens to carry concealed weapons has experienced a decline in violent criminal behavior. Cognizant, trained teachers are anathema to the American Left, because cognizant, trained teachers stop thinking in the weak mindset governing the hive thinking of cultural Marxism.

Americans being armed is clearly a problem, even if it's their right. The bulk of gun deaths in the US are not from mass shooters or turrurists, they are from gun owners' own accidents, domestic disputes and suicides. These are the actual risks of guns, and they exceed the likelihood of being killed in some school shooting.

Israel is a garrison state, not a model for the US in that regard of constant watchfulness. Despite that garrison state choice or necessity, Israel tends to have lower rates of most sorts of violent crime, if not Scandinavian lower. That means a wash of guns in Israel, with its years of mandatory military service for its non (wacko) orthodox citizens, has a different effect than here in the US. And I don't think you have a tiny (dangerous) core of super gun owners in Israel the way we do here in the US.

Israel is not the only nation finding success against terrorists and their Leftist lunatic supporters by increased security training and citizen involvement. The concept of weakening a nation with a bunch of redundant, emotional outbursts of gun control laws will lead to discrimination against the very people capable of protecting our youth and communities. Laws on the books are sufficient to oversee gun ownership. Taking erroneously identified "assault weapons" away from law abiding citizens will only leave them and full automatics in the hands of terrorists and criminals.

Currently, the Borg mind of the Left in America ridicules people for wanting increased awareness of mental illness and the deleterious effects of many psychometric drugs. Emotionalism will not address the problems. Sane approaches, such as installing Exits in all classrooms to outside commons instead of into cramped hallways would be a rational reaction to the recent shooting. Calm reactions get results, not political and emotional genuflection.

Just keeping 19 yr old students who do not attend the school from walking in freely and bringing weapons with them might help.
But oh my we can’t consider this huh?

What a beautiful thing it would be if we could get most of the American public to vote the pro-gun Congresspersons out of office. They depend on the dirty money from the NRA and other pro-gun lobbies to keep them in office. We the people can defeat these scum and return this country to a Democracy.

I debunked your example of Israel, white supremacist [sic], so feel free to name these other examples you're making up.

Again, Israel has less violent crime in most categories than the US does. israel has a population with majority military experience...and not just National Guard weekend military experience. A wash of guns there means something very different from what a similar ubiquity of guns here would result in. In other words, the wash of guns you mindlessly parrot would come with significant negative side effects which would exceed the mortality from mass shootings or from street crime. We know that because that _is already the case_ right now in the US.

That is the real crux - what you have is an objectively, verifiably stupid and ignorant populace.

In the throes of your "Russian hacking" mania you will remember the beyond supermajority in the US which favored, wildly, invading Iraq for those "WMDs."

Actually, no, you won't remember.

Then, once we have all the pro-gun people out, we can go after all those free speech adherents quickly followed by the radical freedom of religion fruitcakes.
How about we just repeal the entire Bill of Rights and set up Obama's National Police Force to keep everyone in line.
