"Everything on the surface looks like it's welfare-ism and warfare-ism forever. But I think underneath there's a smoldering desire that is growing by leaps and bounds that's saying that a lot of the people in this country have had enough of it. Tonight he [Obama] talked a lot about gun control, I don't think the American people are going to put up with that." - Dr. Ron Paul when asked about last night's SOTU (Source:

The President is a tranparent liar! He thinks all Americans are dumb enough to believe the putrid words he speaks! This President is the the single most Devisive person in power I have seen in my life. God save us from all the morons in power!

Are you sure it's this president that is divisive? Perhaps it's the big propaganda machine called the media that is divisive. I don't know, food for thought.

I'm suprised the Divider in Chief didn't pander to the Muslims in last nights speech. It was more important to learn how our Constitutional rights are going to be taken away, and how we must increase our welfare state.

For him to be asking to spend more is beyond irresponsible. When the income tax structure was first put in place, the lowest rate was 1% and the highest was 7%. Government basically voted themselves a blank check at our expense and has continued to spend and then raise the tax rates (and the debt ceiling, read: credit limit)on we the people since then. What we have in government is not Republicans or Democrats but honest versus dishonest, with of course more dishonest ones everyday. They spend as they please and take the money by force from us. That is not how our government was founded. Even the most responsible among us would admit to the lure of a new credit card, whether we had the money to pay it back or not...we MUST find a way to revoke this huge credit card from the government before it destroys ALL of us. ONLY the people can stop this now.

We need a war, that will fix everything, a big big war. Congress loves war. War is good for the economy, jobs, wages, everything. Who cares about the men, we got drones now.

I see that no lessons were learned from the last election. Might be an easy victory in 2016 too.

Are you old enough to remember the guy Obama replaced? You know...the one that dragged us into 2 stupid wars for no reason? The same guy that took care of his oil buddies and other special interests? The same guy who gave ridiculous tax breaks to the rich and ignored a collapsing housing market? When cowboy W took office there WAS NO NATIONAL DEBT. We had a surplus! I'll take a failed Obama policy over a successful Bush policy any day. And if you're even old enough to have a financial portfolio (or know what one is) you would see the rebound that Obama's policies have allowed. If John McCain had taken office in 2008 (along with Annie Oakley Sarah Palin) we'd still be mired in an even deeper mess in Iraq/Afghanistan, have troops in Libya, even further strained relations with China, and most likely would have engaged N Korea since McCain would want some personal payback from being shot down. History will provide the clarity you so obviously lack. And my apologies to Annie Oakley. At least she could read.

Bad idea. The last war gutted the economy and bought us nothing.

I guess they no longer teach the reality lesson of "there is NO such thing as a free lunch" in schools anymore? These kids are destined to be the unfortunate victims of a bleak economic future--yet they are "heartened" about climate change and living wages? No wonder we do so poorly when compared with kids from other countries. Obviously common sense has died in America.

Agreed. Even with drones there would still be loss of life. War equals death. True, WW2 did provide an economic boost, but it was due to a massive global conflict, and our military was in no way prepared then as it is today. And war with who?
