Most Americans would like national standards for education, healthcare, food safety - so many things that poor states and corrupt administrations would not handle for the well-being of the public if they were left to the individual states. What, pray tell, is "wreck less spending"? Is that anything like reckless spending?
I don't approve of gutting the social welfare safety net, GR, and that's where I would draw the line in terms of fiscal conservatism. For example, I'd oppose efforts to turn Medicare into a voucher program. And, in light of vanishing corporate pensions and 401-K programs throughout the land for all but executives, I oppose the chained index CPI program for Social Security beneficiaries. It guarantees a lowered standard of living and disparity of retirees in America whereby the wealthy continue living longer and better than the rest of us.
Don't even try to lecture here, Stan. You're so far behind, you'll need more than Miss Piggy and a couple of ducks to get you up to speed. Swagger all you want. You're transparent, and outgunned by multiple posters. You're also boring and a big old liar that matches your enormous ego. I just don't have the time to tell you. Somebody else surely will continue to set you straight.

This Is How Wall Street Is Fighting the Brown-Vitter Bill
By Kevin Roose
http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2013/05/...
....
The Brown-Vitter bill is only a week old, but it's already getting the kind of scorn that Wall Street typically reserves for Senator Elizabeth Warren. It's a bill that would impose tough capital requirements on U.S. banks, requiring them to hold bigger cushions against losses and lessening the likelihood that they could undergo a 2008-style collapse. Banks with more than $500 billion in assets would be required to have a 15 percent equity cushion, and other banks would need 10 percent.
Matt Levine did some back-of-the-envelope math when the draft bill was leaked that estimated Brown-Vitter's 15 percent capital requirements would force the six biggest banks to cough up an additional $1.2 trillion in capital all at once. But that's not actually what would happen in a Brown-Vitter world. The more realistic scenario, as Peter Eavis explained, is that banks would voluntarily shrink themselves below the $500 billion mark by spinning off assets and divisions, so they'd only need 10 percent equity after all. These smaller banks could still make a lot of money! They'd just make less of it — a possibility big banks don't especially enjoy thinking about.(cont.)

"This a classic example of wet brain syndrome."

Seriously, how could a woman of your "perfect caliber" miss putting the word "is" in her opening condescending sentence?

We have a corrupt federal govt, NTR.. That is what you refuse to accept.. It is the reason, states are branching out and challenging the federal govt.. Most state govt want to enforce laws, keep the Constitution in its original context and deal with the issues without the donkey and pony show of our federal govt...

It is rather interesting how you continue to blame everyone else as well as insult them as opposed to seeing obama's failures..

You have yet to date, defended any policy of obama's that has not been a failure.. is that because there is no successful policy of his.

You are still ragging on Bush and Romney and neither one of them are POTUS.. obama is, as you well know.. But you will blame Congress as a back up for his failures, right? <shaking head>

Sure, Americans would like a lot.. They just ain't gonna get it under this administration..

YOU tow the party line, NTR.. You already showed your celebration dance of the liberal dems taking Congress in the 2014 election...

As far as talking about finances goes? You aren't one to be discussing finances with all of your own personal failures.. You best stick with pointing out typos.. Word of advice though, you need to check your incomplete sentence structure first as well as your typos...

And.... I do not need anyone to bring me up to speed on anything, NTR.. I'm just fine where I am at and with what knowledge I have.. I'm at the point in my life, where I do not have to give a damn about anything, let alone have a care or worry in the world... Now, by all means, use my son's disability and FG assistance of SSI to attack me.. I still laugh at you and look down on you with pity... But, it only lasts for a moment...

Republican Honey wrote:
There are more Americans dependent on the federal government than ever before in U.S. history. According to the Survey of Income and Program Participation conducted by the U.S. Census, well over 100 million Americans are enrolled in at least one welfare program run by the federal government. Many are enrolled in more than one. That is about a third of the entire population of the country. Sadly, that figure does not even include Social Security or Medicare. Today the federal government runs almost 80 different “means-tested welfare programs”, and almost all of those programs have experienced substantial growth in recent years. Yes, we will always need a “safety net” for those that cannot take care of themselves, but it is absolutely ridiculous that the federal government is financially supporting one-third of all Americans. How much farther do things really need to go before we finally admit that we have become a socialist nation? At the rate we are going, it will not be too long before half the nation is on welfare. Unfortunately, we will likely never get to that point because the gigantic debt that we are currently running up will probably destroy our financial system before that ever happens.
The number of Americans on food stamps has grown from about 17 million in 2000 to 31.9 million when Barack Obama took office to 46.4 million today.
The number of Americans on Medicaid grew from 34 million in 2000 to 54 million in 2011.
Once upon a time, Medicaid was supposed to help the poorest of the poor get medical care. In fact, back in 1965 only about one out of every 50 Americans was on Medicaid.
But now about one-sixth of the entire country is on Medicaid.
Americans have become completely and totally addicted to government money, and word has gotten out to other nations that the U.S. is a place where you can live the high life at the expense of the government.
According to a report from the Center for Immigration Studies, 43 percent of all immigrants that have been in the United States for at least 20 years are still on welfare.
Keep in mind that the study only looked at immigrants that have been in the country for at least two decades.
Needless to say, the system is fundamentally broken.
And there is no way in the world that we can afford all of this. We have rolled up the biggest pile of debt in the history of the world and our children and our grandchildren are facing a lifetime of endless debt slavery.
http://endoftheamericandream.com/archives/mor...
As long as Americans continue to take this, the change will happen full circle.. It is half way there if not more so.... It will be complete by 2016.. Then, it won't really matter who is in office as it will be too late to do anything about it...

It's past the 200 year mark.. They have the right person in office.. What better than to put a minority in the oval office.. They have the chants of racism to prevent any personal responsibility/accountability being held against obama and his administration.. And Congress has there hands in it as well.. They all have blood on their hands...
