Sadly, and to the detriment of the country, left over hippies are in control of way too many of our institutions. Most of them like Chris "tingles" Mathews live in exclusive, upscale all white communities.

"Like many suburban towns throughout the United States during the first half of the 20th century, Chevy Chase excluded individuals based on race and religion. Founder Francis G. Newlands was an "avowed racist"[3] who in 1912 mounted his presidential campaign on a platform that called for a constitutional amendment to disenfranchise black men and limit immigration to whites only. Three years earlier, the Chevy Chase Land Company had brought suit against a developer who had begun to sell lots to black people in a planned subdivision called "Belmont" on the grounds that the developer had committed fraud by proposing "to sell lots...to negroes."[3]

By the 1920s, exclusionary language had begun to appear in Chevy Chase real estate deeds. Some prohibited both the sale or rental of homes to "a Negro or one of the African race."[4] Others prohibited sales or rentals to "any persons of the Semetic (sic) race."[5] By World War II, such restrictive language had largely disappeared from real estate transactions, and all were voided by the Supreme Court's 1948 decision in Shelley v. Kraemer."

That's where Chrissy chose to live. His HQ to chastise other whites who can't afford to be his neighbor.

Thank George Bush. Most of us haven't forgotten.
In the wake of a recession that began roughly seven weeks after President Bush took office, America experienced six years of uninterrupted economic growth and a record 52 straight months of job creation that produced more than 8 million new jobs. During the Bush presidency, the unemployment rate averaged 5.3 percent. We saw labor-productivity gains that averaged 2.5 percent annually — a rate that exceeds the averages of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Real after-tax income per capita increased by more than 11 percent. And from 2000 to 2007, real GDP grew by more than 17 percent, a gain of nearly $2.1 trillion.

Democrats don't mind if a poor person receives a little help because that is why we created the safety net but we do have a problem watching millionaires taking truckloads of cash out of the social safety nets.

so were the early drug laws. probably cheerleaded by 'Progressive' thinkers like those that formed the original KKK.

who were those 'Progressive' folks, again, NTR/WA?

yep, things sure do change... from whips and chains to housing vouchers and EBT cards.

then, again, as I said, SOME things never change.

like fighting tyrannical governments by well armed citizens...

I'm very confident I can defend my home, or myself when out, with my meager 7 shot semi automatic. I'll say 99% of the instances when lawful guns are used in defense are instances when not one round is actually fired.
We have a serious problem when 20 small children are slaughtered by the latest nutjob, we have to do something.

Moderation ... that's like "fairness" ...
isn't it?!
Fair is what Conservatives ARE about.
EQUAL.
Not by race or gender ... by Merit!
I'll have to disagree with ur statement that conservatives are about FAIR.

nothing in Life is ever FAIR for very long, if at all.

the Law is not about FAIR but about what is LEGAL. many a poor, stoopid,'in love' GF has gone to jail because she was caught 'holding' her BF's stash. not to mention being left behind with his/their kids.

what's FAIR about folks demanding EQUAL police protection in crime-ridden Progressive-induced neighborhoods and then refusing to turn in the bad guys? or phony reverends blaming the oppressors (read that angry old white folks) for their rudderless children taking up illegal guns and killing each other over $20(or LESS) bags of dope or GF's that cheat on them... or they think they do?

FAIR is BS and a MYTH used by ideologues to gain support and votes.

if FAIR and conservative go together, then label me a Traditionalist or a Constitutionalist or just a plain Old Fashioned American: EQUAL treatment for ALL, Win, Lose or Draw.

What we did regarding gun laws pre 1960 is largely irrelevant. I will concede that cities like Chicago and NY are in fact desperately and futily trying to keep guns out of the hands of inner city blacks and hispanics. Of course that can never be said in the discussion. Those efforts hurt the honest people of all colors who are left defenseless in their own homes.

if you didn't post so many lies and counterdictory statements, I wouldn't have to pester you for explanations.
some things DON'T change, do they? some OLD truths remain TRUTHS thru the Ages, don't they?
Human Nature hasn't evolved since recorded history, has it? sneaks and cheats will ALWAYS find ways to 'get over', won't they? what difference does it make if it was Romans or Chicagoans?
isn't the wheel STILL round? fire burns? water is wet?
well, Socialism, Marxism AND Progressive-ism are STILL bad ideas and ideologies. changing locations, years or members does NOT change the Historical facts.
NONE of those ISMs made this Country great, did they?
but, they sure are destroying it.
thanks to folks like you... that aren't smart enough to know that if IT ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT.
how's these Progressive 'fixes' doing in the American 21st Century?
hurry, hurry, HURRY...
That's funny, Higs. I see a lot of comments that I've previously made have been incorporated and adopted by you in this post. I suppose I should be flattered.

Yes, water is wet, etc. And?

If you were trying to make a point with this post, I missed it, because you didn't post any of my so-called lies which I could answer. Still, I do understand that you think I'm stupid. I'm crushed.

Progressivism is used today in place of liberalism. It's not a lie when I say I'm a Social liberal. I've said that from day one when asked. But, I'm more conservative fiscally. I'd rather not pay a penny more in taxes of what I've earned than necessary to keep a smoothly functioning society with a safety net. I'm fairly sure most working class Americans feel the same way regardless of their party. Who wants to spend their hard earned money to provide welfare and special tax breaks and deductions to already profitable corporations? What do you call that?

That's an easy one.
First of all, we aren't as divided as someone seeing the world from your perspective thinks we are.
The division that does exist is extreme because too many far right wing (white) people can't accept that America is changing and they would rather bring the whole thing down on all of us than deal with the fact that they aren't going to have things their way.
:)
I think it goes much deeper than just getting "things their way" Jax.
----------

With its increased government spending, enlargement of the national debt, bailout of large multinational companies, creation of the potential for increased taxes for future generations, and infiltration into formerly private areas of common life represented by recent proposals for healthcare reform – these policies and practices have tipped the balance between trust and fear, for many, in the direction of fear, and not only of fear but anger as well.

From the vantage point of some, the enlargement of government functions, decisions, and regulatory authority was the best possible response to a critical situation and to a disaster that loomed ahead. For others, it has created a sense of endangerment and the need for defense, as if life, liberty, and the capacity to live freely were being challenged in the most basic way to an extent that had not taken place before.

I must have missed the "two blasts outside the house" lesson during my gun safety and subsequent refresher courses.
Ha ha- me too!

But...WHAT about that statement Nancy P. made when referring to the new health care bill AND, along the same line of nonsense! She stated, "you will have to read it after it passes and the fog clears to know what is in it." Seems that today, some of the top dems. are eating those words as they are finding out as the FOG is clearing. They are not liking the results as that fog is lifting AND all is exposed! The results and findings are going to be VERY costly and not going to work as thought originally. Ah, should have read it before passing it-simple enough! Idiots!
