Video: Say, where are those ObamaCare premium price cuts?
posted at 12:01 pm on February 11, 2013 by Ed Morrissey

Want to know how to tell you’re going to have a bad day in Washington? A man walks up to you and says,“Hi, I’m Jason Mattera, and I want to ask you a question.” Actually, since Jason is a friend of mine, that would be a good day for me, but not so much for politicians. Jason, the senior investigative reporter for Talk Radio Network and a New York Times best-selling author, gave Hot Air an exclusive first look at his latest video produced for the Andrea Tantaros Show, which features Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA) attempting to walk away from a good question — whatever happened to those health-care premiums price cuts Barack Obama and Democrats promised when they passed ObamaCare three years ago?

McDermott’s answer is priceless:

What founding father said that the USA was a Christian Nation?
Answer: NONE
The Christian Nation Myth
Whenever the Supreme Court makes a decision that in any way restricts the intrusion of religion into the affairs of government, a flood of editorials, articles, and letters protesting the ruling is sure to appear in the newspapers. Many protesters decry these decisions on the grounds that they conflict with the wishes and intents of the "founding fathers."
Such a view of American history is completely contrary to known facts. The primary leaders of the so-called founding fathers of our nation were not Bible-believing Christians; they were deists. Deism was a philosophical belief that was widely accepted by the colonial intelligentsia at the time of the American Revolution. Its major tenets included belief in human reason as a reliable means of solving social and political problems and belief in a supreme deity who created the universe to operate solely by natural laws. The supreme God of the Deists removed himself entirely from the universe after creating it. They believed that he assumed no control over it, exerted no influence on natural phenomena, and gave no supernatural revelation to man. A necessary consequence of these beliefs was a rejection of many doctrines central to the Christian religion. Deists did not believe in the virgin birth, divinity, or resurrection of Jesus, the efficacy of prayer, the miracles of the Bible, or even the divine inspiration of the Bible.
These beliefs were forcefully articulated by Thomas Paine in Age of Reason, a book that so outraged his contemporaries that he died rejected and despised by the nation that had once revered him as "the father of the American Revolution." To this day, many mistakenly consider him an atheist, even though he was an out spoken defender of the Deistic view of God. Other important founding fathers who espoused Deism were George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Ethan Allen, James Madison, and James Monroe.

Law and Morality

SUMMARY
Because every law springs from a system of values and beliefs, every law is an instance of legislating Morality. Further, because a nation’s laws always exercise a pedagogical or teaching influence, law inescapably exerts a shaping effect over the beliefs, character, and actions of the nation’s citizens, whether for good or ill. Those who seek to separate morality from law, therefore, are in pursuit both of the impossible and the destructive. The question before us is never whether or not to legislate morality, but which moral system ought to be made legally binding.

In short, the rule of law is necessary to a civil society, and a just rule of law requires adherence to a strict moral code. Perhaps an analogy will serve to clarify the point: computer programmers employ the acronym “gigo,” derived from the first letters of the words “garbage in, garbage out,” a phrase warning those programmers that no bad program yields good results

As usual you find it necessary to provide a dissertation on a simple question. Does it make you feel smarter? More powerful?
Your condescending comments are no different than the poster you were referring to. Don't ever feel you need to "remedy" anything for me. I fully understand that you believe you are superior to most posters especially those who are conservative.
Too bad you cannot see you do the exact same thing you accuse the other poster of doing.
"To assess someone's ignorance is one thing, to berate them with insults terms like "idiot" and treat them like they're ignorant when they are clearly not is another. Wouldn't you say?"
"Hopefully that helps to familiarize my comments for you. I guess in a way, I'm again trying to remedy your "ignorance" on something."
I do not need another dissertation to explain why you believe your comments are not condescending. I am not "ignorant". I totally understand your intentions.
LOL

It's not the same thing and I've clearly outlined the differences in an attempt to help you understand.

Apparently you do "need" something since you felt the need to inquire what you did. Whether it be a "dissertation" or a carefully worded answer tailored to help you understand, I would think would be irrelevant. You came to me with your, question. I answered it.

If you feel condescended to, or inferior, that's really not my problem as it is not my intent to make you feel this way. So in fact, you don't "understand" and ARE ignorant on this matter.

What can I say? Don't ask the question, if you don't want the answer. lol

Rights not guaranteed in the ‘Constitution Free Zone’

You say that you’ve never heard of the CFZ? Well, you’re not alone. Much of the American population hasn’t either. That’s another aspect of this edict, which should give us both pause and suspicion about the actions of the federal government. The measures that define the CFZ were enacted by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) during the height of last decade’s terrorism scare. It was upheld by the congress, executive branch, and never challenged directly by the Supreme Court. Essentially, the CFZ defines a 100 mile strip of land, which runs along the interior borders of American territory. Within this zone, federal agents can conduct extra-Constitutional operations including, but not limited to, illegal search and seizure, detainment without charge or legal representation, and general dehumanization tactics to solicit private information.

It's not liberals wanting to throw old people under the bus. Conservatives serving business interests first and foremost fully intend to do everything they can to ensure corporations continue receiving welfare, and the h*ll with old folks and the poor. What part of that formula escapes your attention? If there are any morons in the mix it's you 80%ers who fantasize yourselves as "highly successful" when most of you are only a pink slip away from descending into the ranks of the struggling where you will find yourselves to be ever so much more interested in programs like Social Security and Medicare. Wait and see. I pray that the "liberals" hold sway on how cuts are handled and see that corporate welfare and defense contractors go FIRST, not last.
