I think we can all agree that our country is great. Yet, you seem opposed to fundamental change. You imply that you want to keep things as they are, maintain the status quo. If you had the same perspective in the early 1800's, you'd similarly be advocating for maintaining the status quo, which included slavery. Only through fundamental change were we able to eliminate it.
And only through fundamental change were we able to eliminate legislation that support racial discrimination, miscegenation and other odious practices. With that said, you'd then have to agree that our country is currently great thanks to a number of fundamental changes.
So far he has failed to do this.
