Experience tells me what that "fundamental" change could be and I don't think you or your present or future children will like that.
I think we can all agree that our country is great. Yet, you seem opposed to fundamental change. You imply that you want to keep things as they are, maintain the status quo. If you had the same perspective in the early 1800's, you'd similarly be advocating for maintaining the status quo, which included slavery. Only through fundamental change were we able to eliminate it.

And only through fundamental change were we able to eliminate legislation that support racial discrimination, miscegenation and other odious practices. With that said, you'd then have to agree that our country is currently great thanks to a number of fundamental changes.

The NRA should not start off with a blame game. They're very much responsible for the lobbying & opposition to many gun control laws.
Disagree. The only "mass gun" related massacre is a war or battle that has already occurred or a group of thugs with many guns who have killed and the majority of those with guns are mentally unstable.
I would agree with you if you had said....."An overwhelming majority of gun related mass massacres involve some mentally unstable person.... who happened to get his hands on guns.

Are you aware that the fundamental change you used as an example came about through a civil war? Is that what you want?

The Revolutionary War also brought a fundamental change, the beginning of our Nation and freedom from British rule.

I think you missed the point, but the poster never said anything about wanting another war. However, this country has been involved in numerous wars that affected "fundamental change." But not EVERY change has come from a war either. He gave other examples as well.

Ludicrous reasoning on your part in my opinion.

I want the nature of this "fundamentally changing America" that he speaks of spelled out, in great detail, and in Plain English and be presented to each and every American citizen before I can accept or reject what he says.

So far he has failed to do this.

Those who foolishly thought a second time, Obama was the answer -- you will be singing a different tune in 4 years. His only goal in life is to destroy America. Don't start whining when you have a difficult time putting food on the table, paying your utility bills and can't afford medical care. You were suckered by smooth words and more false promises.

That's a ridiculous question/comparison, Ralff. During the times you reference, citizens did not have the availability of information that we have now. I would imagine that many made decisions based on either a total lack of information, or false information. Do you disagree?

At any rate, that is no longer the case. I don't think any type of civil war is required today for fundamental change to occur, where it would benefit the nation.

<quoted text>I'll be nice this once, since you obviously would eat the peanuts out of someones as$ just to see where they came from: obamacare provides for 16,000 more IRS agents to collect the money needed to pay for it. It does NOT provide for more medical people. It excludes (pg 116) Congress and the First Family from compulsory coverage. It isn't free, you idiot. That "gradual comeback" is being paid fgor with money America doesn't have- they're simply printing more cash.
"obamacare provides for 16,000 more IRS agents"

Prove that Obamacare provides for 16,000 more IRS agents, Bachmann tweeker. Cite the "Law" or STFU.

I just read in the Pub that you recently lost your mother. I am very sorry to hear that. I also know that your brother is missing in action in Vietnam. I am sorry about that too.
But if I recall correctly, you still have a boyfriend, son and sister. Why not shower the attention on them that you do on strangers here. I am sure they would love to spend some time with you.
Life is so very short and way to precious to waste here on the internet. Turn off the computer and spend it with the small family you have left. Hold them close and show them how much you love them. Afterall, it is almost Christmas.
Merry Christmas, Rose. I hope 2013 finds you living in the real world with real flesh and bone people that love and miss you.
Happy New Year.
Peace out.

No one does anything correctly but the two of you and a few others. The rest of us just love to come here and tell lies and bother you.(sarcasm and rolling eyes)!!!!
What you do NOT understand is that we (I assume there are others) believe VERY strongly in the information we post just as you and others believe VERY strongly in what you post. It is difficult for us to understand how you and others cannot see what is going on around you, but I am sure you feel the same way about us.
It is a great divide. It is no longer just a matter of political parties, but massive differences in every aspect of our views and into the deepest corners of our souls.
The issue at hand is who is correct? Am I totally correct or partially correct? Are you totally correct or partially correct? I guess that is yet to be seen.
Just know that we feel as strongly about our perceptions and opinions as you do yours!
It seems to me that neither side is 100% correct about everything. But neither side will give the other any respect to hear each other out.
I will tell you though that I have never seen so much trash thrown at a President before President Obama. I've heard all the bad things about him that the Republicans and Fox News is saying and most of it is totally BS. Yet Americans are believing every word. They don't check out any of the stories they simply ...believe. My own 95yr old aunt said some things that just floored me. But I'll save my rebuttals for others not as frail as she is. One of the things that I've found to be truth while posting on Topix, is that when something is repeated often even (lies even) they become true to those that hear it.
I just have to wonder why we are becoming sooo very divided instead of coming together as we really need to do now.

I was not trying to find fault with the mother -- other than to say perhaps her weapons should have been secured such that he wouldn't have access to them.
Finding an activity to do with a mentally challenged "almost" adult should not include target practice with guns, in my opinion. Going to baseball games, riding horses, taking walks, building model airplanes, painting -- there are many things a mother could do with a son in order to try to connect. The use of deadly weapons might not have been a good choice if that was her intent.
Thanks, I completely agree with you on this. I have read that the Mother had sought help for him and was in the process of trying to have him committed. I certainly would not have had weapons like that where the kid could get yo them. I also read an article of a friend of the Mother had said that She had a gun safe in the basement. But not sure on that one??
