Dozens of illegal workers discovered on TN Air National Guard base

Federal officials have arrested 34 workers at Memphis International Airport believed to be illegal immigrants working to build the new Tennessee Air National Guard base.

You're right about the gov't contracts that prohibit hiring of illegals. Somehow, they continue to be hired. The contractor can blame it on the subcontractor, who can then blame it on a temp. agency. The gov't. should hold all three entities accountable.

My company did some work for TANG last year. I find this story very difficult to believe, and I'm upset to hear it. We, as a contractor, were treated so differently then from what I'm hearing now. They were so picky about everything from labor to materials being "American". TANG checked every piece of material we brought on site. One piece of material (that was backordered) arrived at the site and it was labeled "Made in China". They refused the delivery (as they should)!!

And before anybody asks.....NO WE DO NOT HIRE ILLEGALS! My company requires professional training to do the job we do and most illegals (and even most people) don't fit the qualifications and job skills we require. Plus we are super picky about I-9's.

Keep in mind guys The Air National Guard is a state ran organization, not federal. They get federal money, but goverened by the state.

A lot more of the checking needs to be done. Send all the illegals back and let they apply thru proper channels, but with a penalty for coming to the US illegally the first time. Also, caught employeeing illegals should be fined.
