it ain't nearly as rosy as the muddle-headed libs will try to paint it. factor in the labor force participation rate (steady decline for the last five years) and you're looking at closer to 11% unemployment rate. the only reason the U.E. rate is going down is because so many have dropped out! what a joke...

No, Detroit went bankrupt AFTER electing the Republicans.

I live here; things most definitely are NOT getting better under the GOPasaur policies.

People are fleeing the state in even greater numbers because of the tax increases- YES, TAX INCREASES- the GOP enacted immediately after getting control of the legislature & Gov's office.

So now old retired people are leaving the state to avoid paying higher taxes, young people are leaving the state because there are no jobs, and no one is moving in. That's the only reason our unemployment rate has come down- all the unemployed are leaving the state.

No Detriot went down hill after the riots of 1968, and it became worse, and worse, until the State had to step n. They couldn't compete with foreign made automobiles. They took advantage of people who never wanted a foreign car until the buyers realized the Auto makers were puting out a second rate product.

According to an article I read this morning 77% of the jobs created in 2013 are part time jobs. Where is George Bush when we need him.

part-time and fast-food jobs. obamacare is turning US workers into 29 hour employees. and the prez has the gall to ridicule keystone pipeline jobs. his own state dept. estimate is 42,000 jobs for multiple years. if his goal is to ruin US economy, he is a very successful president.

In September, 1983, the policies of President Ronald Reagan created as many jobs as Obama has created in all 5 years he has been President. That is amazing. Yet the President is so proud of his part time jobs, and so against the Keystone Oil project, one has to wonder if destroying the middle class was a planned effort. He cannot be that stupid. Or can he?

Prehaps you should finish your GED before discussing economics. My point is there has not been a recovery at all.

The Sequester is a joke. It doesn't keep Democrats from spending money, it just makes sure a percentage is paid toward the debt first.

Dems can't spend a single penny without the GOPasaur controlled House first passing a spending bill.

So blame the GOPasaurs.

If they wanted to stop spending, all they have to do is stop passing appropriations bill out of the House.

""What conservatives like me have been fighting for for years are statutory caps on spending, literally legal caps in law that says government agencies cannot spend over a set amount of money and if they breach that amount across the board sequester comes in to cut that spending. You can’t turn it out without a supermajority. We got that into law.’”- Paul Ryan

Can you show me where obama fought for spending caps for years before the sequester?

No, Bankruptcy was already a done deal before they named the Manager. The liberals, inept, and unprepared to Administer the city kept getting re elected because they were black. They stole everything that wasn't nailed down, and gave themselves raises, and gave the pensioners huge retirement plans, now they have no money. None. Can't even keep the lights on, have little police, and fire protection, and you can buy a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house for less them $10,000. Of course unless you were Armed 24 hours a day, or had private security you couldn't live there. It is not civilized. I would like to buy a couple houses there and hold them until the city is restored. With new leadership it won't be horrible forever.

do you even bother to look this up before you post your nonsense?

Detroit's emergency financial manager's first day was March 25. They filed for bankruptcy on July 18. And that last sentence is going to be funny come a year from now.

Bankruptcy for Detroit was discussed for the last 2 years. You don't just get up one morning, and declare bankruptcy. Long before there was a Governor appointed manager there was discussions of bankruptcy. Their incompetent leadership was in place for years.
