Palin: McCain's biggest mistake was sheltering me from press

There are 684 comments on the www.huffingtonpost.com story from Dec 22, 2008, titled Palin: McCain's biggest mistake was sheltering me from press. In it, www.huffingtonpost.com reports that:

Sarah Palin frequently disparaged the political press when campaigning with John McCain. But she tells Human Events' John Gizzi in an interview that she wishes she had spent more time talking to the media:

The biggest mistake made was that I could have called more shots on this: the opportunities that were not seized to speak to more Americans via media. I was not allowed to do very many interviews, and the interviews that I did were not necessarily those I would have chosen.

McCains biggest mistake was the campaign he ran.

I think if they would have had Palin doing more in the campaign the Republicans could have won. I really liked Palin, I wasn't as crazy about McCain.

Sarah is great- she is an true American woman. Even my father was impressed with her. She is a working mom, she can budget and tackle any issue. I hope we see her in the future in the White house, this country really needs someone like her.

What an imbecile. She failed miserably at every opportunity presented. She's simply not self-aware. She got McCain votes, for sure. But she LOST so many more, from people who were on the fence.

So true- the campaign was non existent until Palin came on board. McCain was so dry- but she added spirit and life to the dying party.

Palin divisive tactics ("real America vs non-real America") and constant calls to "Joe the Plumber" had carved out as much of a niche as she could do with those tactics.

Eventually the America's desire to come together instead of the Rove-like divide and conquer approach won out.

Also, America saw Palin and others trying to link Obama to doom-and-gloom and be very afraid, while McCain has to bring them back to reality and say "you don't have to be afraid".

That just didn't make sense. Most Americans saw a confused campaign which meant confused candidates.

It's called the blame game. Palin didn't and still doesn't have the skills to handle tough media.
True, McCain should have realized that she had never seen such scrutiny and was a deer in headlights. He rushed to judgement but it was too late by the time she was exposed as being what she is.
Too much baggage - too many issues.

I hope Republicans pick her in 2012.

They'd win Alaska, but that's it.

I hope they pick her in 2012 too. She's an idiot. What people don't understand is that all she was to the McCain campaign was a pretty face. When she was allowed to speak, she totally flailed.

Nope. She scares the hell out of America. Sarah Palin is four steps backward in this country. Her fundamentalist beliefs in creationism, womens' rights, education and science are dangerous for our country.

Look at our current international standing. Do you really want to give the rest of the world even more of a reason to hate us, ridicule us or not take us seriously?

She is a down to earth gal and identifies with us plain folks just fine.

She will be the next President of these United States.

She lost because the LIB press shyt all over her..she never stood a chance once they started theys blood letting.

Study up a little on how Peter Jennings swayed the voaters a few years back just by smiling at the right times.

Here's an idea. Why don't we all sit home in November 2012 and let the rest of the world decide who should be President. You think the rest of the world would like us then???? Get used to the fact that if you're a Jew or an American you're hated.

The fact is the left despises Sarah Palin. Why? Because she has potential. If Sarah Palin was such a zero, an idiot, a lightweight, a loser....the left wouldn't waste their time or effort degrading her. The fact is the left is scared out of their wits about Sarah Palin. She can draw a crowd and her message resonates. If the message didn't resonate....there would be no concern. Do you see anybody banging on John McCain in December? Heck no! If Sarah Palin wasn't on the ticket, McCain would have lost 45 states. I've been watching politics for 40 years and I know talent when I see it.

Translation: she is as dumb as you are and she doesn't make you feel stupid like them other fellers with their fancy educations.

The media only repeated what came out of her mouth, for which she is 100% responsible. She was a bimbo before they ever pinned a mike to her.

She will NOT be President, but I sure do hope she is the nominee in 2012!

It will be fun to watch the GOP get wtfpwnd -- again.
