Sounds like a strong contender for this seat that the GOP needs to defend. I wish him well. Lately, the Republicans' recruitment has been picking up steam.

ELECTION '08: Baldermann seeks nomination Republican leaders line up to support New Lenox mayor 10/10/2007, 11:36 am Comment on this story New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann has announced a bid for the Republican nomination for Congress from Illinois' 11th District. His campaign office issued a press release late Tuesday, indicating Baldermann plans an official announcement tour. Billed as having "a unique combination of experience in law enforcement, education and local government," the 41-year-old Baldermann -- who also is police chief of Chicago Ridge -- appears to be the leading Republican candidate as the party seeks to retain the seat held for more than a decade by U.S. Rep. Jerry Weller, R-Morris, who is not seeking re-election. Republican county chairmen Tom Setchell, La Salle County; Jack Partelow, Will; John Peacock, Grundy; Daryl Smith, Kankakee; and Barry Welbers, Bureau; have endorsed Baldermann in the primary. The district also includes McLean County, but the Republican Central Committee there prohibits the chairman from endorsing primary candidates. Also in La Salle County, three former party chairmen -- Frank Kobilsek, Bob Vickrey and Edmund Thornton -- have made formal endorsements of Baldermann. Baldermann's campaign co-chairman are La Salle County Sheriff Tom Templeton, Princeton Mayor Keith Cain, Kankakee Mayor Don Green and Partelow. Sheriffs Tim Bukowski of Kankakee County and Paul Kaupas of Will County also have endorsed Baldermann. The campaign identifies Baldermann as a mainstream conservative. He is the current mayor of New Lenox, served on the New Lenox Village Board for four years and was president of the New Lenox school board for two years. He has been a police officer for 20 years and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. He has earned the degree and the required state certification to be a school superintendent and his wife, Megan, is a school principal. "Running for Congress is not something I thought about less than a month ago," Baldermann said in the release. "However, with (Weller's) decision not to seek another term, I am compelled to step up to this challenge to represent our district because I believe my background gives me unique insights to work on solutions to our nations' pressing problems. Our country has problems that need to be tackled straight on and I have a record of doing just that." Baldermann continued, "It's plain to see that many Republicans in Congress have strayed from our core principles and that is why they lost the majority in the last election. With a new president taking office after this election we will have the opportunity for a clean break from the recent past. That will also be a good time for reinvigorated Republicans in Congress to have a new beginning. "Our state government also is in desperate need of a clean break and those that created the appalling state of affairs in Springfield are the last people on Earth to straighten out Washington and that is a large part of why I've decided to make this race." Baldermann specifically responded to the campaign announcement of Illinois Senate Majority Leader Debbie Halvorson, D-Crete, to seek the Democratic nomination in the 11th District. According to his release, Baldermann believes a U.S. |

Representative has four important functions: To accurately represent the values of the people of the district; to assertively advocate for the economic interests of the district; to provide outstanding constituent service for people with problems beyond their ability to cope with; and to work with local governments for vital infrastructure needs. He thinks Halvorson is incapable of representing the district and its varying demographics and criticized her voting record for being too similar to that of Senate President Emil Jones, D-Chicago, and closely aligned with Gov. Rod Blagojevich. "Debbie Halvorson has been the number two leader in the state Senate for the past four years and if anyone has followed the news to any degree at all, they know our state government is as badly managed as is conceivable," said Baldermann. "Our federal government has problems, but the last thing we need is to have the proven dysfunction of Springfield infect Washington." Baldermann and his wife, Megan, have five children. He has earned awards for domestic violence prevention, efforts to combat international narcotics trafficking, received the "Those Who Excel Award" from the State Board of Education and the Sheriff's Medal of Honor. |

Couldnt fit it all

That article forgot to mention he had an affair with his current wife. His first wife is mother to most of those children. It sure paints it pretty picture by leaving the ugly part out. I'm a conservative republican but he isn't getting my vote.
Those of who really know Baldermann won't be voting for him, unless it is just to get him out of the village.
He better not try to get away with using village staff or grounds to campaign for him during hours like the he used the schools for his stint as mayor. |
Does that mean IF Baldermann wins, he'll have an office there? How convenient. Don't forget, he and the rest of the trustees were all for this building as well. It wasn't up to just one person. |

It was a compliment to Annette, not a slam

It should be very interesting to see what happens. |

I know it is easy to say now, but I was told by a few insiders that Tim was hand picked by the Republican party to run for Mayor of New Lenox and that New Lenox is just a stepping stone to a higher office. Tim did not run for Mayor to serve the citizens of New Lenox, he ran to further his huge ego.
If thats the case, what is his next step, President? Come on, eventually your ego has to be one that tells you your done.

can someone look into the mismanagement in the nlpd? how can we have someone in charge who was arrested for pulling a gun on a couple while driving on the ryan and then his son just got fired from frankfort pd? whats up with that picture?

Well, look at it this way. He's going to have to keep all potential voters happy, right? He's obviously been playing that game so far. Now it's the people's turn - he's going to have to call on all those residents he couldn't care less about when he was village trustee for support. hehehehe

Interesting article. So he doesn't like Halverson's political relationship with Emil Jones. Maybe we should question his political ties with the Beavers family.

Who wrote his press release? And didn't he use the same line about running for mayor? That he wouldn't have even thought about it until Mike Smith decided not to run?
The state has run corruptly for years under Republicans, and is running the same with Democrats, because the politicans are corrupt. |
