The incumbant mayor sounds like a jerk... "Do you think I'm gonna lose... Naah!" Can you thumb your nose at the voters any more than that? I hope the challenger re-prints hundreds of copies of that line and spread them around town... that should be enough to put him in his place.

Capone-Alamon, I think you need to focus on the politics in the town - For one...The East Haven Academy. It is my understanding that children of "privledged" families with political connections are accepted to the school at the cost of all taxpayers. Teachers have been pulled from the public schools to teach these "privledged" kids, leaving the less fortunate to be educated in the town's poor school system. It is a well known fact that this is how this academy operates. If I were you, I would make this part of your campaign and give every child an opportunity, not just those who are tied to Town Hall.

Thanks for a well written and informed column about the politics of East Haven.

You gave both sides equal say.
That in itself is commendable.

Maturo surely appears to be a buffoon. Can he not keep track of his vacation? If that is so he should be out of office on that alone. Is he the Mayor who never went to the hospital to visit an officer from his town shot in the line of duty? That by itself speaks volumes of his concern and commitment to the community. Will we, the voters ever get the whole Maturo picture?

Maturo is actually quoted as saying "It's not how much time a man spends in his office, it's the quality time he spends doing his job". What an idiot. Anyone who has visited our town can see he doesn't spend much quality time caring for the roads or town buildings.

Maturo says he saw 3000 signatures for a refferendum and thought "lets pave some roads". What a liar. This idiot isn't even good at the spin control the republicans are known for.

Well I read a comment where someone said that Maturo is an Idiot, A liar, and a Moron. This is an untrue statement anyone who knows Joe Maturo is aware that he cannot single-task, nevermind multi-task, and as such he cannot be all these things, at least not at the same time.

All I have to say is - and I quote:

One
basic
truth can
be used as
a foundation for
a mountain of lies,
and if we dig down deep
enough in the mountain of lies,
and bring out that truth, to set it
on top of the mountain of lies; the entire
mountain of lies will crumble under the weight of
that one truth, and there is nothing more devastating to a
structure of lies than the revelation of the truth upon which
the structure of lies was built, because the shock waves of
the revelation of the truth reverberate, and continue to
reverberate throughout the Earth for generations to
follow, awakening even those
people who had no
desire to be
awakened
to the
truth.

Joe Maturo says in his Bio that he attended college,...Did you know he never graduated from those collges he attended...April on the other hand has a Masters degree from the college which she attended.

Ask yourself isn't it funny that Joe retired from the fire department on disability yet East Haven does very little for the disabled...

Rumor has it that years ago Joe was illegally getting cable Tv to his residence..Gee what Ethics!

In November it's time for Joe To Go!!

I recently discovered one of the most powerful ways we can help April win this race is by taking our cell phone cameras,...Digital Cameras and other picture taking devices and when you see something that isn't right in East Haven that this Admin has screwed up or dropped the ball on take a picture of it...Then place the picture where it will be seen by the largest amount of people.

East Haven Mayor Joe Maturo stated on his recent mailing that he has improved public safety and points this out by showing a picture of an East Haven police cruiser however according to the East Haven Police Union Local 1662 President Detective Tom Russell that's far from the truth as he recently had this to say:

the Maturo Administration has neglected public safety, including police vehicles, communication equipment, bulletproof vests, weapons, training, and facilities.“Simply stated, there’s no plan. Ignoring that fact puts our officers and citizens at risk,” said Russell. In addition, officers have complained of political interference and low ethical standards.“The law enforcement profession was built on three fundamental principles; honesty, integrity and respect. Just as in the law enforcement profession, the Mayor’s Office should work to maintain those same three principles,” said Russell.“Over the last ten years, those fundamental principles have not been adhered to by Mr. Maturo and his staff. April Capone Almon will bring honesty, integrity and respect back to the corner office,” remarked Russell.

In the same mailing Mayor Maturo claims to care about the Children of East Haven's future however recently WTNH ran a news story on one local park where East Haven's Children play and here are a few comments from that story:

There's a lot of garbage over there, a lot of kids do drugs and stuff," said Kenny Araujo, 9 years old.

A quick look around the park at the end of Michael Street shows beer cans and other trash. Many parents say they don't want their kids to play their anymore.

"It's pretty dirty, I don't want to take my kids there," said Joanne Fowler, mother.

Fowler says the park is also covered in graffiti.

"We have older boys - we have a 14-year-old and a 12-year-old who go there. We know these two young ones can't read, but we know they can and we prefer they didn't see it," Fowler said.

If Mayor Maturo doesn't care enough about the current environment for East Haven's children can we really expect him to care about their future?...In case your wondering A week later the graffiti is still covering the playground as is the trash and the towns only response has been to mow the grass and in the process hide the problem instead of correcting it.....If The Mayor can't take care of the present how can we expect him to take care of the future?

Taking another look at the mailing it says The Mayor is continuing to Improve the towns infrastructure yet Dodge Avenue remains unfinished and the Mayor had this to say about that: Joe Maturo quote: " The dodge avenue project was started under Hank Luzzi's term, over nine years ago".

I don't know about you but to me over 9 years seems to be an awfully longtime to finish a project if it took you over nine years to finish a project at work would you deserve to be fired?..Yes and on November 6 isn't it time we give the current mayor his walking papers?

Dear Linny:

Did you know that it is illegal what the academy is doing by testing the children to attend? It OUR money paying for this school, anyone who would want to press a lawsuit, and could even submit as pro-se without an attorney could sue this school for not allowing you or my children into the school that April calls "a role model" for the rest of the school system!

Anyone who has witnessed the work that the teachers and principal put into the selection process will know this is a bogus statement. You only have to speak to the students to know the real story of the East Haven Academy’s success it.

If all schools had a dedicated staff like that of the Academy, there would be no disparity.
