The Northwest US protests over creating a giant coal conveyor to carry Wyoming coal to China are just a tiny chapter in the same worldwide story: political conservatives corrupted by Big Carbon are more than willing to deny climate destruction in return for political media money and power.

All true. re-pubic-lick-uns have not been good for Washington state AND not good for the Earth AND its people. We had the greatest democratic environmentalists, caring for people & land, in Senators Henry Jackson, & Warren Magnuson.

re-pubic-lick-uns lie when they say they work for the Earth. The legacies of Senators Henry Jackson, & Warren Magnuson prove that statement. Washington state citizens know this is true, except for the transplanted newbee re-pubic-lick-uns, who move into Washington state.

Oregon Republicans Tom McCall, Mark Hatfield and Bob Packwood were all strong environmentalists. So was Washington Governor and Senator Dan Evans. And Richard Nixon led the way on Federal environmental successes such as the Clean Water Act and the Endangered Species Act. It's just that this all happened before the oil industry bought the party.

Most of your names were barely repubs, at least once, not even getting the republican endorsement to run for office! Wow!

Gov. Dan was in the Boy Scouts, loved & knew the Greatness of Washington state! Of course, he was an environmentalist.

Because the American people said there must be something to protect the environment in the 1970's, Nixon had to start the EPA, probably not knowing what real Protection of Land, Air & Water, really meant.
