Tough reviews for Jim Lehrer as debate moderator

Jim Lehrer may be regretting his decision to come out of semi-retirement and moderate his 12th presidential debate.

The veteran PBS anchor drew caustic social media reviews for his performance on Wednesday, with critics saying he failed to keep control of the campaign's first direct exchange between President Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney. The candidates talked over Lehrer's attempts to keep them to time limitations, and his open-ended questions frequently lacked sharpness.

I'm sorry to say this dude, but the Republicans have screwed up the country, and now want to spend their days trying to make Obama somehow responsible for it. They screwed it up so bad, even 3 3/4 years later, it's just starting to recover. I remember when Obama first came into office, the GOP said for Obama not to use the economy to his advantage. Ha ha! Yeah sure, if the Dems had screwed it up that bad, the Republicans would be harping about it day and night, night and day, til the cows came home. You know, Obama needs to use how badly the GOP screwed up the economy, to HIS advantage, for once. Did Mitt support all the policies of Bush??? Then he's responsible, too! He supported all the lame policies of Bush. Needless wars, tax cuts for the wealthy.
Bush basically took the U.S. down for the rich because oil is ending. He did so much war profiteering, oil wars, free prescription drugs that the rich profitted from greatly, he gave all of his rich buddies new Homeland Security businesses. During the Iraq war, there were over 100,000 subcontractors in Iraq all sucking up government money. But, Obama did even worse, he ran up even more debt faster. The truth is both parties are finished. Both parties policies no longer work, and in reality, we should all have elected Ron Paul and threw the two party system on its head.

One problem is the far left is stuck on stupid, they still think it is 1965. The other problem is that Fox News co-opted the tea party and got them to stop being Libertarian and got them to support the Republican party, so you have a situation where Bush destroyed the U.S. for the rich and you have an entire TV network devoted to getting Repubs back in office yet again. So it's a hopeless case.

Oh yes, Ron Paul...The guy who proposes plans that were proven to not work before he was even born... not a rational choice, which is why no rational people support him.

Well, one thing's for sure. The American's and America, is standing on the edge of a cliff, an abyss, if you will. The American people can either grab it by the back of the shirt collar, or let her go down the dark rocky slope. I mean, this is the last chance for the American people to WAKE UP!. The GOP will continually try to take more and more jobs out of this country, lower more and more wages, raise the price of everything else three times what it use to be. They want to kill Social Security, pensions, healthcare. People will have the freedom to make 11.99 an hour, and whatever is left for you to live on, that's your future.

You must have missed the debate last night. Romney spent 10 minutes trying to explain his plan in detail THREE times to the ignorant bastid on the stage with him. Must be a lot of ignorant bastids on the left these days since you and others can't seem to grasp Mitt's plans either.

So what were the specifics he gave, then?

Romney clearly won the debate. He was aggressive, combative, passionate, and he knew what he wanted to say. Obama seemed more like a fading hologram, who was barely even there.

However, Romney has a real problem. Most of what he said was either misleading or outright lies. I hope the factcheckers expose him soon.

The debate format was a disaster, making Jim Lehrer look foolish in trying to control the discussion.
I hope the forthcoming debates have formats where the debaters have to follow some kinds of rules. I wouldn't even mind an approach where a speaker's mike is turned off if he goes over his alloted time.

The big problem was that Lehrer allowed Romney to have the last word in every exchange. He could say what ever he wanted in closing, and the President was denied the opportunity to refute it.

Why don't you specifically expose him for us .

Why wait for a bunch of nerds and political wonks without your solid grasp of the specifics mouth off ?

Explain how Romney lied such as.

* Corp tax loopholes for jobs to China .
* SOLYNDRA etc, didn't cost $90B in Gov't Trickle Down .
* How $4b in budget cuts adds up to $1B more in debt.
* To Big to Fail is in Dodd-Franks.
* About how $770B switched funds from MediCare to ObamaCare doesn't hurt MediCare.

Explain all those lies to me.

I refer you to Paul Krugman, economics expert from the New York Times. He can point out Romney's lies much more clearly than I can. That assumes of course that you are really seeking the truth, and not just fixed on your partisan views.
Or there is a do-it-yourself method. Collect some recent statements by Romney on these same issues, and compare them to what he was saying during the debate. That way you'll be free to draw your own conclusions.

You dems, don't even have the sense to know when you have been a looser. What will it take,
Obama fainting on the stage? Would you admit
THEN that he can not stand up to anyone who
has showed him to the country (50 Million),
that he truly is a empty suit. There really
is nothing under it. Yes men around him letting
him give this country away and dumb dems. cheering
him on for 4yrs. Today,,,,, Obama Has got his tongue back, and hes talking about BIG BIRD..
You should be ashamed but your just not smart
enough. YOU and Obama deserve one another...
go with him when he leaves...Do this country a
favor, its starting to stink real bad around
all of you..Phew Could we ask to get all this
money he has spent back NOW???

Even Fox News wrote Jim Lehrer was the biggest loser last night. He didn't lose control but never have it. But that doesn't have anything to do with Obama not being more prepared.
I agree Romney was on his game last night. But I can not forgot the year he has not answered questions, won't give details to any of his plans, won't turn in his tax returns, the 47%, the poor convention, etc. One debate can not change that.
But, Romney DID SAY he was going to reduce the debt 5 Trillion while still keeping the Bush tax cuts. He DID SAY he would reduce school funding and Paul Ryan DID SAY he would dismantle Medicare.
Romney controlled the debate and controlled Jim Lehrer. Obama was not prepared for all the lies being told and he should have known what was coming.
Yet you can forget that Obama hasn't shown us his transcripts, refuses to accept responsiblity for the poor economy, and keeps his dislike for white working class people hidden.

When has Obama ever told the truth? Latest lies from the WH were about the Sept. 11 riots against Americans in the Middle East. That's okay though. Yeah, that's okay for Obama zombies but not for the rest of America.

Can you tell us just what Obama plans are other than continuing the sames ones of the past four years that have put the country in financial decline?
