I wonder just how much money it will take to bring back their son? How much money will "ease their pain"?

If they are truly concerned with the safety standards of the Zoo, they would not accept any money except for the cost of any outstanding medical/funeral expenses, and force the Zoo to to re-enforce all the enclosures and insure all meet rigid safety standards.....

The Tiger acted as ANY wild animal would when taunted..... he attacked.

The ass clown punk should have not teased a top of the food chain predator and then maybe he'd still be alive today.

The Tiger I feel badly for, he was put down for acting like a Tiger instead of a caged circus animal.

I disagree with the family (and their lawyer). If those young men had not taunted and harassed that tiger, they'd both be alive today.

I diagree, there should be no way for that dangerous animal to get out of it's cage.

I visited this zoo often with my husband and children when they were little I would not go into the tiger house where you can see them up very close as they feed them, as I had a fear of the tigers, I sat outsite right in front where those boys taunted the tiger. I did this at least 4 times a year with my kids I never felt threatened those stupid boys had to have done something extremly vile to that poor tiger. I do not think they are owed anything not one dime as the tiger lost it's life too. The tiger was doing what came naturally to it when being taunted but unfortunately the zoo will probably settle because the moat is shallow and I can even remember making that same comment to my husband at the zoo one day that it seem like a tiger could have the ability if it wanted to to scale the moat. I personally would think the family should have only hospital bills and the funeral covered nothing more and then I think the family should pay for the burial of the tiger and replacement of the tiger too. So it can be called fair.

zoos should feed stupid mexicans like these to the animals every day for lunch/dinner.

save us some tax dollars housing them some day in prison....and the zoos could put it on pay per view to raise some cash. now that would be a great reality show.

Look you geniuses. If you had a dog, and the dog attacked a woman and bit that woman's hand, seriously injuring the hand, and you still insisted on keeping that dog, and then your dog escaped from your property and attacked three men, killing one, you bet your sweet bippy you would be made to pay for it. Personally I would want to see you in prison for that, altough that probably wouldin't happen.
Why exactly should zoo be any different with their tiger?

Wow, what a moron.

If your scenerio were anything close, perhaps I wouldn't feel that way, but I do.

Lets get a better scenerio here, ok?

Say you are hanging out in your front yard, just lounging around. Some drunk-assed piece of shit kids show up and line up and start yelling at you and throwing things at you. You get up, move to the other side of the yard, they follow you and keep doing the same thing. Constant yelling and throwing things. Trying their best to irritate you.

Now tell me, at what point do you just shrug and say "Oh well, this is ok" and sit back down and enjoy them throwing things at you and yelling. After all, they're paying attention to you, things hitting you is a GOOD thing, right?

Now, if you try to tell me you wouldn't get upset, not only will I know you're a moron, but a complete, absolute fucking liar. You're going to retaliate, aren't you?

Now here's the deal, if you retaliate in ANY way to this post, you are already proving my point. That point is that you are wrong.

Now here's another scenerio...you are a tiger, I am a drunk, punk-assed kid harrassing you. If you retaliate in any way, you prove that the tiger was right for killing that piece of shit.

Just because you were failed by your parents (they didn't teach you not to play with tigers) doesn't mean you should get paid to be stupid.
I imagine your mother and father are brother and sister.
Maybe we should sue this guy for harrassing public property? Breaking and entering? Attempted suicide? Just plain being an idiot?

Seems to me that it doesn't matter how much taunting was directed at the tiger. If the tiger is capable of escaping the enclosure, then it's a safety hazard, and the zoo is at fault. UNLESS, the kid breached that enclosure, which I am not sure about.

Let the parents sue and win millions. Then let the people who would like to see Tatiana and the zoo file a class action suit against the parents. They should have taught that young man not to taunt something capable of eating him. And if they have any other children CPS should step in and take those kids away because it's obvious there's abuse going on in that household.
As for CPS stepping in and removing any other children, why? First of all, what are the family circumstances? Do you think it's possible that the deceased could have been suffering from peer pressure? Acting stupid like his friends because they all thought it was funny and he wanted to look cool to them? Well, they found out it wasn't, but too late for him and them.He was definitely suffering from poor judgment. But to blanketly put the blame on the parents is not fair.Everyone is different and one kid could be bad while his sister or brother might not be.That does occur. True, some do grow up in households where the parents do not set a good example for responsible behavior and the children follow suit. But sometimes there are also what are called hardheaded, rebellious kids who have a mind of their own and do what they want no matter how good the parents are. They are either blatantly that way, giving their parents constant grief or are sneaky about it, showing their parents an angelic, I'd never do anything wrong side. Then when they are out with their friends, they act like little idiots. Kind of like the scenario where the kid tells the parents that he/she is going to the "library" and then they go with their friends and it's party time! The parents don't know any different until something bad happens. And then they are in shock and disbelief because, their child "would
never do anything like that".
So as everyone has a mind of their own, even with the best parents, if that child makes a stupid decision whether it is due to peer pressure, or whatever reason, it is not always necessarily the parents fault. And even if the kid was a jackass, his parents still love him, regardless.

Sorry...but you are calling anyone a MORON. In your scenario the tiger is living amongst civilization...not in a protective environment. Man choose to capture these dangerous animals and put them on display. Man is responsible for making their enclosure idiot proof.

Do you really believe that a teen that participates in a really really really stupid behavior is a "piece of shit"? Did you seriously never do anything stupid? I can think of several instances where I think...WOW...that was dumb...I was lucky! Come on...stupid? Yup. But to be happy a teen is dead? Just wrong.

From what I've read, the two brothers who escaped had criminal records -- public drunkenness, assault on police officers, and so on. Carlos Sousa, who died, had no record.

I bet when Tatiana leapt the wall and went after the brother who was taunting her, the other brother was too stoned and drunk to react -- so Sousa stepped in and got killed.

Of course, after the tiger attacked Sousa, the two brothers -- heroes that they are -- fled the scene and hid out in a cafe nearby, which is where the police found them and the tiger, which was still chasing them.

They must have really pissed it off.

Oh when do I stop laughing at your response?
If you are sitting in your yard, and some kid walks by, makes a face at you, and says na-na-na-na-na, and then you run after the kid, get off your property, and kill the kid, where do you think you will end up?
Most likely charged with murder and going off to prison (considering your apparent level of intelligence, I had to spell that out).
