well where are they? My neighbor just got back from there and Afganistan. Nobody has found a WMD anywhere. There were a few baby formula plants, but those are only dangerous if they're Chinese and they're sending the stuff to the U.S. You know, alomg with extra lead for deteriorating bones.

Well, nearly 3 hours have passed, and no one has provided even ONE example of Obama as a leader while a legislator.

That's pretty much what I expected

Barack Obama has sponsored 129 bills since Jan 4, 2005, of which 116 haven't made it out of committee (Average) and 2 were successfully enacted (Average, relative to peers). Obama has co-sponsored 594 bills during the same time period (Average, relative to peers).
Some of Obama's most recently sponsored bills include...(View All)

S. 2030: A bill to amend the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 to require reporting relating to bundled contributions made by persons other than registered lobbyists.
S. 2111: Positive Behavior for Effective Schools Act
S. 2066: Back to School: Improving Standards for Nutrition and Physical Education in Schools Act of 2007
S.Con.Res. 46: A concurrent resolution supporting the goals and ideals of Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Month.
S.Con.Res. 44: A concurrent resolution expressing the sense of Congress that a commemorative postage stamp should be issued honoring Rosa Louise McCauley Parks.

Sponsorship is kind of meaningless, essentially meaning "me, too".

What bills has Obama WRITTEN?

Sponsoring a postage stamp is hardly an example of leadership.

My bad, I was thinking "cosponsorship".

I found the details of the two bills that actually passed:

S.Res. 268: A resolution designating July 12, 2007, as "National Summer Learning Day".

S.Res. 133: A resolution celebrating the life of Bishop Gilbert Earl Patterson.

What a leader!!!

BTW, Barak also has MISSED 20% of the votes taken since he achieved the office.

I guess it's more important to run for President than actually represent your State...

Texas is know to have the weakest governorship in the nation. The leutenent governor runs most of the business. Person claimed he run a huge deficit & most were happy to see him gone.

Obviously more meaningful experience:

Changed pollution laws to favor power and oil companies and virtually single-handedly transformed Texas into the most polluted state in the Union. More than 4,400 miles of Texas rivers, roughly one-third of Texas’s waterways, don’t meet basic federal standards set for recreational and other uses. They are unswimmable, unfishable, and, for the most part, undrinkable. Thanks exclusively to my policies, the number of stations monitoring for pesticides in Texas waterways fell from 27 to two.
Replaced Los Angeles with Houston as the most smog-ridden city in America. Houston, the nation's oil- and petrochemical-industry headquarters, has been called an ecological disaster zone.
In 1999, when international oil prices collapsed, pushed for and won a $45 million federal tax break for Texas oil-and-natural-gas producers.
Cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas government to the tune of billions in borrowed money.
Set record for most executions by any governor in American history.

Yes, Bush reaped the benefits of programs implemented by previous Govenor Ann Richards. No major accomplishments other than signing off on a concealed handgun law allowing licensed citizens to carry one. There is a very unenlightened electorate in Texas, trust me. Name recognition and party affiliation as a Republican almost always guarantees winning. Typical sheep with short attention spans...

Always point at the previous administration is the usual non-think. Bush did benefits a lot from her, as he claimed her increase in reading scores, until his no left behind trial program killed them.

What about his friend Ayers (sp?)? I think he was responsible for proposing anarchy and bombing in the 1970s which would make him fit the definition of "Terrorist."

I think the tax cuts helped the economy.

The economy grew, and as a result tax revenues to the government went up.

What more do the critics expect?

The size of government went up.

We expect to spend at least some of that money here.

That's a different issue.

I agree that Bush spent too much money and was not a fiscal conservative.

There's no such thing as a free lunch.
The tax cuts were just a band-aid. Eventually somebody will have to make the tough choice to put our failing economy back on track. It won't be a popular choice and it will, undoubtedly, cost whoever does it reelection but it will be the responsible thing to do.
