Lunatics aren't going to buy a legal gun thru channels which will ever be regulated. Regulations will only control people who try to live by the law.

EXACTLY.

I saw a stat the other day that said that 93% of all guns used in the commission of a crime were illegally obtained either through improper channels, or theft. So making it harder to legally buy a handgun would potentially reduce gun crime by 7%. Meanwhile, law abiding citizens go about defenseless...yeah, great idea.

Where do you think lunatics get there guns? From law abiding citzens who purchase them then 'lose' them when they get robbed or sell them to someone who sells them at a flea market or illegally.

Prove it.

Most illegal guns are purchased legally and then sold in the blackmarket. The illegal guns (guns used by or for ciminals) that are stolen are like stolen vehicles. Why punish people for being victims of theft.

Govt punishes gun owners who have not committed crime after other people commit crime with guns. Gun crime is an excuse for more govt control.

What happens after car theft is made impossible (from new technology)? It leads to more carjackings. That leads to the govt having the power (the technology) to shut down your car (and prevent the owner from using it.)

The more the govt cracks down on crime (the wrong way), the more we lose our freedom. The right way to reduce crime is by respecting our rights and repeal gun control laws and drug control laws (a major cause of gun crime).

Armed drivers deter carjackings.

Big unlimited govt (created by people wanting govt to do everything for them, including waging war, on everything) has the power to give us everything and to take everything back.

true. Gun owners
can learn the basics of using a firearm, but the criminals ALL have an edge if it came down to a person to person gun fight. The criminals will not show any hesitation in taking life. No statistics suppport the statements that having a gun in the house deters robberies or in the car prevents carjackings. In a gunfight he who hestitates is dead. Even trained Officers of the Law acknowledge that shooting someone is not as easy as people think. I've heard people say that they live in such a remote or rural area that they can't call a cop so they draw a gun... Wild wild west.... here we come.... again

Look at the stats in Australia when they (the U.N.) took all the guns. The crime rate rose to300% because the criminals were the only ones with the guns.Ted Kennedy killed more people with his car than my gun did.Ban cars.....

200 years later and we are still debating one sentence which appears to be self explanatory

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

the right of the people
Remember
We The People

Now ponder this
after two hundred years, our so called brilliant politicians argue the meaning of: the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

Yet these same self proclaimed narcissistic "geniuses" LOL are writing a 2,000 + page amendment to the Constitution.
They are not writing an amendment, they are re-writing the Constitution and writing your Rights out of the equation.

In fact their double talk BS legislation is larger than the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights combined.
I suggest everybody read it.

The future of gun control is a bloody revolution if the government does not uphold the U.S. Constitution.

You are absolutely right. The average citzen keeps his gun in a locked gun box with the safety on if someone comes into your home armed with either a gun or a knife the average person would not be able to get the gun....load it.....and remember the safety. Guns are a false sense of security. How many times do we hear reports of kids shooting their friends, once is to many. Most gun lovers out there will say they could kill someone coming into their home but I believe it is all talk and when/if something actually happens they couldn't. More innocent people die because they have a gun in the home then criminals.

Fact: Every year, people in the United States use guns to defend themselves against criminals an estimated 2,500,000 times – more than 6,500 people a day, or once every 13 seconds.( Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, Fall 1995)

The News-Record, Greensboro, N.C. 10/16/09
An armed intruder broke into the Greensboro, N.C. home of 80-year-old Charles Haithcock, by removing an air conditioner from the living room window. Haithcock became aware of the intruder, retrieved a gun and went to confront him. As Haithcock came upon the criminal, the intruder leveled a shotgun at him, to which Haithcock responded by firing his gun. The intruder was struck by Haithcock’s fire and stumbled outside onto the lawn, where he remained until emergency personnel arrived. The armed criminal died a short time later at a local hospital.

Alston is recovering in a local hospital.

Four robbers, one armed with a knife, lured Joseph Cox to the entrance of his home in Winston-Salem, N.C. by knocking on his front door. Once Cox opened the door to see who had knocked, the four men forced their way inside. Cox retrieved his handgun and fired at the criminals, striking one several times and causing the others to flee. During the melee, Cox suffered several stab wounds to the back. Both Cox and the wounded criminal were taken to a local hospital. Police noted that the criminal will be charged when he is released.

The New York Post, New York, N.Y. 11/18/08
Two armed robbers entered Yusef Drame’s convenience store in Brooklyn, N.Y. After initiating the robbery, the two criminals exchanged gunfire with Drame. The criminals shot Drame in his side and in both legs. Despite his wounds, Drame was able to shoot both robbers, killing one instantly and critically wounding the other, who would later die at the hospital. According to police, at least one of the armed robbers had an extensive criminal history.
------

Albany Times Union, Albany, NY, 01/20/07
When two armed men approached a residence and flashed a handgun, the fearful person inside let them in. The resident's compliance only emboldened the intruders. Police say a shot rang out, and a relative in an upstairs apartment hurrieddown with a rifle. He shot both suspects, killing one and causing the other to flee. The wounded suspect was apprehended at the hospital. Authorities in Schenectady, N.Y., say it was the fourth case in two months in which a would-be victim shot an intruder.

Horseshit. Typical anti-gunner BS. My loaded gun is near at hand by my bed, no locks, no safes. I am prepared to use it to defend myself, family &/or neighbors. I have owned guns for over 30 years & kept at least one loaded easily accessable, while raising 4 children (3-29 yrs), no accidents, no injuries or deaths. My children are taught to respect other's property, and not go into our bedroom uninvited. How about your's? Can you make your children mind you?

Nope. NO MORE COMPROMISES with our rights. How about some CRIMINAL CONTROL? You libs hate to talk about that. A dead criminal is no longer capable of committing criminal acts. From a former federal LEO.
