How do you define better? There will always be stories of people being discontent with services. I lived in Canada 12 years and it was wonderful.

Many Canadians and British think socialized medicine is terrible.

Rationed care that makes patients wait months or years for treatment would be far worse than what I have now.

In fact millions of Americans are very happy with the private healthcare they are getting now.

Michelle Obama's Patient-Dumping Scheme

By David Catron

The First Lady helped create a notorious program that dumped poor patients on community hospitals, yet the national media ignore the story. Imagine if her husband were a Republican.

The University of Chicago Medical Center has received a good deal of justly opprobrious press over its policy of "redirecting" low-income patients to community hospitals while reserving its own beds for well-heeled patients requiring highly profitable procedures.

Substantial coverage was given to a recent indictment of the program by the American College of Emergency Physicians.

ACEP's president, Dr. Nick Jouriles, released a statement suggesting that the initiative comes "dangerously close to ‘patient dumping,' a practice made illegal by the Emergency Medical Labor and Treatment Act, and reflected an effort to ‘cherry pick' wealthy patients over poor."

Oddly absent from most of the unflattering press coverage of UCMC's patient-dumping scheme is any mention of the role our new First Lady played in devising the program.

A laudable exception has been the Chicago Sun-Times, which reported last August that "Michelle Obama -- currently on unpaid leave from her $317,000-a-year job as a vice president of the prestigious hospital -- helped create the program."

That is still TOO many UNCOVERED PEOPLE that will be using the EMERGENCY ROOMS.
This will CONTINUE the increase in healthcare costs, NOT covered by the government.
Those COSTS WILL BE PASSED ON TO YOU, TO GO ALONG WITH THE TAX INCREASES THE MIDDLE CLASS WILL BE "HAPPY" TO ABSORB.
Then look at the quality go down. Why? look at what the government runs now and tell me which program they should follow;
medicaid? medicare? public school system? VA hospitals? unemployment insurance?
ALL ARE STELLA PROGRAMS AREN'T THEY?
Critical Care Patients are always seen.

Hypocratic Oath and all..

In plain English, once again we are all paying for this now and will continue to pay through Obama's big business approved plan or if the rules remain the same.

First of all you were obviously the exception not the rule (if you are even telling the truth)
Canadian citizens flock across the border to the tune of 4 MILLION people a year to get NON_RATIONED (their words!!!) healthcare.

Secondly your Uhbmama messiah's "plan" does not address the 20-30 million illegals that account for 40% of the federal healthcare burden.
Strange how his stimulus plan claimed it would create or save 1 million jobs and ignored the fact that more than a million illegals will cross the border during the same amount of time.
(not to mention it FAILED miserably!!!!!!)

Lastly, as for your blatant lie about the Canadian healthcare system here is an excerpt from a book by an EXPERT on Canadian health care

"Swinging open the door, I stepped into a nightmare: the ER overflowed with elderly people on stretchers, waiting for admission. Some, it turned out, had waited five days. The air stank with sweat and urine. Right then, I began to reconsider everything that I thought I knew about Canadian health care. I soon discovered that the problems went well beyond overcrowded ERs. Patients had to wait for practically any diagnostic test or procedure, such as the man with persistent pain from a hernia operation whom we referred to a pain clinic—with a three-year wait list; or the woman needing a sleep study to diagnose what seemed like sleep apnea, who faced a two-year delay; or the woman with breast cancer who needed to wait four months for radiation therapy, when the standard of care was four weeks."

As obama & company state with much bravado, "We Won". obama said he'd be ready to take over the responsibilities of presidency from day one. We were told what a genius he is, unlike Bush. You'd think a genius would know what awaited him if/when he became president. obama wanted the job & yes, "you won it & now you own it".

The Stoneman Perfect Solution to Healthcare:

If you don't pay for it, you don't get it.

Illegal aliens, bums, Welfare cases, DO NOT get free medical care other than extremely remedial services. If they come into the ER with a severed limb, the staff will stop the bleeding, sew them up and send them home. No prosthesis, no therapy, no attempts to reconnect the limb.

Sounds rough, but it worked for many, many years to motivate people to manage their health needs.

If you knew you wouldn't get chemotherapy or respiratory therapy for cancer, you might be motivated NOT TO SMOKE.

You might not run to the ER everytime you get a boo-boo. You wouldn't get depression meds because you are feeling a little blue-- you might just GET OVER IT.

Bottom line, if it was coming directly out of your pocket, you wouldn't exploit health care and become a shrewd consumer. Prices would drop.

I suspect the truth is somewhere between the two views. Sure, Canada'a system has problems.

But we have 50 million uninsured, rising every week as job losses continue.

Canada has no uninsured. Basic care is far easier to access than complicated procedures. They spend far less per capita, and have better health results in many areas, including lower heart attack rates.

Our healthcare system is the most expensive in the world, yet we fall behind all other western nations in critical areas, such as infant mortality. We come in 29th, tied with Slovakia.

The USA has great high tech medical, but it's only available to those with health insurance or lots of money.

Our system is not working. It works well for some, not so well for most, and not at all for many.

This is a national security issue, not a healthcare issue. If we don't get a system that cares for all Americans, we are at risk of epidemic for any flu strain or illness that may come along due to lack of health insurance and access to medical care. The uninsured will be incubators for any outbreak, but will spread it to every sector of the population. Imagine our emergency rooms should a major outbreak occur, which is surely just a matter of time.

If we don't fix it, we could have major social breakdown should this swine flu or whatever returns this fall in a more virulent form. It seems to have a pretty good death rate already. Doesn't most everyone have one or another 'pre-existing conditions'??

We've pi$$ed away a Trillion Dollars in Iraq. The money would have been far better spent fixing our broken healthcare system. Had our politicians had the courage to tackle it in the 1990's, we wouldn't be where we are now - in far worse shape, with far more uninsured.

Most every President since FDR, including Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Carter, and Clinton have advocated for a national health care plan. Business interests have killed it every time.

I'm sure I could fill many pages with horror stories about the US Healthcare system. Such as hospitals dumping sick indigents on skid rows, etc. But as the gun indicates, you're not serious, you're a fascist.

If ours is so good, why are we #42 in life expectancy? Canada is #6 in life expectancy. Pretty good for the dismal picture you painted. Makes you look rather stupid.

Why is their infant mortality rates lower than ours?

In almost every measurement, Canadians health statistics are better than ours.

And we have 50 million uninsured.

I look forward to the day when even rednecks like yourself can get easy access to quality health care and not face financial ruin from an illness. A day when every American doesn't have to fear losing a job with a sick family member. A fair and equitable system. As FDR would have said "A New Deal".

First of all you OBVIOUSLY don't know the definition of fascism....fascist regimes do NOT allow their citizens to posses firearms.
I bet you are one of those poorly informed sheep who think that being right wing is part of fascism, and ignorant of the fact that fascism is a merger of corporate and government entities under totalitarian control.(can you say Uhbama's agenda?)lol

As for the life expectancy rate America fell from number 1 in the 70's to its current level because of effeminate liberal's embrace of homosexual lifestyles and the AIDs epidemic that arose because of that idiotic ideology.
Add that to the obesity levels that American's have accepted due to soft handed lethargy which is rampant in our inner cities.(rural areas have 1/8 the occurrence of obesity than their inner city counterparts)
You are also turning a blind eye to the fact that the cancer rate in America is nearly 300% higher than ANY other country.
-
As for me?....I pay for my own insurance and don't need a nanny state to take care of me.
-
FDR's policies PROLONGED the depression you fool.

Between Bushy boy's idiotic neocon's and Uhbama's limp wristed liberal zealots America is skrewed and fools like you are too busy arguing black versus white to realize the truth lies in the gray area in between!

. Nets Ignored Clinton Firing 93 U.S. Attorneys, Fret Over Bush's 8
The broadcast network evening newscasts, which didn't care in 1993 about the Clinton administration's decision to ask for the resignation of all 93 U.S. attorneys, went apoplectic Tuesday night in leading with the "controversy," fed by the media, over the Bush administration for replacing eight U.S. attorneys in late 2006 -- nearly two years after rejecting the idea of following the Clinton policy of replacing all the attorneys. Anchor Charles Gibson promised that ABC would "look at all the angles tonight," but he skipped the Clinton comparison. Gibson teased: "New controversy at the White House after a string of U.S. attorneys is fired under questionable circumstances. There are calls for the Attorney General to resign." CBS's Katie Couric declared that "the uproar is growing tonight over the firing of eight federal prosecutors by the Justice Department" and fill-in NBC anchor Campbell Brown teased: "The Attorney General and the firestorm tonight over the controversial dismissal of several federal prosecutors. Was it political punishment?" Brown soon asserted that "it's a story that has been brewing for weeks and it exploded today" -- an explosion fueled by the news media.

The USA spends more per capita on healthcare than any industrialized western nation, yet our results are at the bottom of the barrel. Statistics don't lie. You do.

I knew who you were from your ID. Blaming our problems on 'liberals' and the usual assortment of right wing boogeymen only proves what I surmised; you are a fascist that hates your fellow citizens. How typically unAmerican of you.

>>>Americans are struggling to pay for healthcare in the ongoing economic recession, with a quarter saying they have had trouble in the past 12 months, according to a survey released on Monday.

Baby boomers -- the generation born between 1946 and 1964 -- had the most trouble and were the most likely to put off medical treatments or services, said researchers at Center for Healthcare Improvement, part of the Healthcare business of Thomson Reuters (TRI.N).

The study, available here, found that 17.4 percent of households reported postponing or delaying healthcare over the past year.

The U.S. Congress is working on a way to cover more of the 46 million people who lack health insurance, lower costs and coordinate care better. President Barack Obama has made it one of his administration's top priorities.

Americans pay more per capita for healthcare than people in any other country, yet have high rates of infant mortality, diabetes, untreated heart disease and other conditions. Americans are often disatisfied with their access to care.<<<<<

Spin it any way you want, right wingers. Fact is, the health care system in America is broken, and it needs fixing. Pretending it is fine the way it is, is not an option.
