NO, Cold Snap Doesn't Negate Global Warming

There are 810 comments on the abcnews.go.com story from Jan 9, 2010, titled NO, Cold Snap Doesn't Negate Global Warming. In it, abcnews.go.com reports that:

No, the cold snap in some parts of the northern hemisphere (New York, Florida, Beijing, Northern India, Europe) does not mean that manmade global warming is not happening, or even that it's happening just a little less.

This is, of course, an old story...and more and more 5th graders are bringing it home from their science classes to get their parents up to date on the latest climate science.

Bottom line -- fast and simple? Three points:

1. Weather is not climate.

2. Manmade global warming means less frequent cold snaps (not none at all) and more frequent heat waves -- just as we've been having.

3. You know (don't you?) about the record high temperatures this week in Washington State, Alaska and Bulgaria in the Northern Hemisphere -- plus, down south, the record-breaking high temperatures in New Zealand, and the second hottest year on record (after 2005) in Australia?

No, the cold snap doesn't negate Global Warming. All the memos telling the truth about climate change, and the global warming hoax negates Global Warming. How stupid do you people think Americans are? We read, we study, we can determine a hoax when we see one with our own eyes. No more money for a useless project. Find another worthless project to scam the American taxpayer. When the Republians return to power in November you will never hear of these weather scammers again. They planned for decades to get money from the American taxpayers.

WHO'S CONSPIRACY DRIVEN FOR PROFIT$$...???

"Al Gore" whom invented the internet, running around lying and fear mongering to everyone for years during the Clinton/Gore administration, the world was going to end when "Y2K" rolled over...

Until today (Global Warming)... The biggest imaginary lie, hoax and conspiracy ever perpetuated by a government administration on to the public to "stimulate" the economy.

As a result people with apprehension, were buying extra food, power generators, guns and ammo, gas guzzling SUV's and drive to the mountains to their new log cabins, while polluting the enviroment, believing planes would fall out of the sky, people buying new computers and taking money out of the bank because computers would fail. All occurences and things which did grow and stimulate the economy... AND... DOOMSDAY EVENTS THAT NEVER HAPPENED??

Bill Clinton said "It's The Economy Stupid"... I personally have always maintained "It's The Internet Stupid"...

Al Gore spewing their fear mongering conspiracy driven for profit, imaginary doomsday tactics and snake oil promotions of the day, "The Sky is Falling", "The World is Ending" misleading people to get them frightened, to spend money and buy things because they were afraid....

Why should anyone believe Al Gore's conspiracies about global warming, fear mongering, looming crisis hocus-pocus theories, Lies and untruth scare tactics fraud this 2nd. time around???$$$

One crazy imaginary Gore phantom in a lifetime is bad enough, but two imaginary Al Gore phantom conspiracies in a lifetime, is two too many...

BTW: At least Bush's Ranch is greener then Al Gore's Mansion. The Pasminco Zinc Mine, is situated on Gore's plantation...

P.S. Al Gore buys his carbon off-sets credits from himself--the Generation Investment Management LLP, "an independent, private, owner-managed partnership established in 2004 with offices in London and Washington, D.C." of which he is both chairman and founding partner.

Yes I Agree, Al Gore is a Great Capitalist...

Do you understand the difference between 'global average surface temperature' and 'global average air temperature'? Do you understand how changes to ocean upwellings and wind patterns make air temperatures a NOISY proxy for the influence of surface temperature?

If you don't know any 'truth' how are you to judge?

In an election year it is more difficult to persuade Congress to spend money on projects the Taxpayer finds objectionable. Americans have changed their minds about Global Warming, or climate change, or whatever they are calling it this week. Those early E-mails explaining the truth about the whole Hoax has hardened the taxpayer against paying for nonsense.

The truth is that anybody who really believes in (a religious feeling, not a scientific premise) global warming increases should be a strong supporter of nuclear power. Yet, so-called environmentalist, with their faith in global warming, are still protesting the construction of nuclear power plants.

You try to promote this as a 'religious belief' issue rather than one bewtween science and ignorance. That is wrong.

In your opinion. But NO subject is without 'nuances' such as waste disposal, costs of capital, access to uranium, nuclear proliferation etc.

Again, a worthless statement of unsupported generalities. Many people promote or discourage nuclear power for many reasons.

I absolutely agree. The cold snap does not debunk global warming. The earth has indeed been getting warmer since the end of the little ice age about 1850 or so. The debate begins when we start talking about a cause. Actually, it isn't a debate since anyone who opposes the AGW (man caused global warming for the newbies) theory are suppressed.

To be clear, I am what is known as an environmental Republican. I know... I know... there are only about five of us, but we do indeed exist. You know how, in movies where people travel through time, they can't come in contact with their self or it will destroy space-time? It's kinda like that with us.

All kidding aside, the real threat to our environment is not global warming caused by an inflated C02 threat. Water vapor is a MUCH better greenhouse gas than C02. The real threat to our environment is habitat destruction.

What makes me an environmental Republican is that I can acknowledge that free markets don't adequately value things such as biodiversity. This is especially true when areas are threatened by development.

AGW is a farce. If one wanted to come up with the perfect way to discredit our fossil fuel economhy, the best way to do it is to attack CO2. Basic Hydrocarbon combustion produces mainly CO2 and H20. You would have a hard time demonizing water, so what else is left?

I'm all about renewables... don't get me wrong. I just think that this is the WRONG way to go about it. I have often heard people say that the ends justify the means... meaning that we can put up with the AGW hoax if it gets us solar power. I don't buy that.

I can go you one better.
Any American who claims to believe in man-made global warming/climate change is a hypocrite if they give silent assent to continuing the environmental, social and financial disaster that is mandated corn ethanol.

"This is, of course, an old story...and more and more 5th graders are bringing it home from their science classes to get their parents up to date on the latest climate science."

Yeah, I have no doubt than the little minds of mush are bringing this clap-trap home from their indoctrination centers.

1) "WEATHER IS NOT CLIMATE." (Fine...tell this to AlGore who classifies every strong hurricane or drought as proof of global warming.

2)"Manmade global warming means less frequent cold snaps (not none at all) and more frequent heat waves -- just as we've been having." First, "manmade" is an opinion...not a proven fact. Secondly, more frequent heat waves, IF, they are occuring could be explained by sun activity, regular fluctuations of climate cycles...any number of reasons besides "manmade" GW.

3. "You know (don't you?) about the record high temperatures this week in Washington State, Alaska and Bulgaria in the Northern Hemisphere -- plus, down south, the record-breaking high temperatures in New Zealand, and the second hottest year on record (after 2005) in Australia?" But wait a minute...weather isn't climate....

so when the article said that temps doesn't mean that global warming is lessening or not at all but then uses the hi temps in various parts of the world as ''varification'' of global warming hmmmmmm now i am really confused...the record hi's for this week most commonly were in the 1880's and so were some of the record low's... there is no doubt that the globe is warming continually... it has been since the time when a glacier once stood where i now sit..

The IPCC is NOT a scientific organization founded to research man made global warming. The IPCC CHARTER states they are their to PUSH the idea of man made global warming. This is their charter!!!!

This is like asking OJ Simpson's Lawyer if OJ was guilty. Do you really think OJ's lawyers don't know the truth?

These Tin-foil hatters never give up screaming"the Sky is Falling, the Sky is Falling".. Gore...go away already.
It's scary to think that people who are so gullible still exist in our country. Thank God they are a very small minority with personal agendas, like Gore, at stake. Normal people see through the propaganda. It's nothing new, after all. They tried this Climate Crap in 1922. It didn't make sense then, and it doesn't make sense now.
