Former Florida GOP leaders say voter suppression was reason they pushed new election law

There are 19 comments on the www.palmbeachpost.com story from Nov 27, 2012, titled Former Florida GOP leaders say voter suppression was reason they pushed new election law. In it, www.palmbeachpost.com reports that:

Former GOP chair, governor - both on outs with party - say voter fraud wasn’t a concern, but reducing Democratic votes was.

A new Florida law that contributed to long voter lines and caused some to abandon voting altogether was intentionally designed by Florida GOP staff and consultants to inhibit Democratic voters, former GOP officials and current GOP consultants have told The Palm Beach Post.

Republican leaders said in proposing the law that it was meant to save money and fight voter fraud. But a former GOP chairman and former Gov. Charlie Crist, both of whom have been ousted from the party, now say that fraud concerns were advanced only as subterfuge for the law’s main purpose: GOP victory.

Well that should be obvious to any sane honest person. That's why it was that very GOP dishonesty that beat them.

It's like Paul Harvey always said, the right-wing excesses will be their own undoing.

For those of you who always find a need to tell me Harvey was a conservative, I'll head you off, he was a staunch one.

Benghazigate follows Obama and the democrats around like a shadow.

The Shadow knows.
"Everybody" knows.
The blood of Benghazi calls out to Obama. And Obama, like a vampire, hears it's call. He is trying to hide, but Benghazi is everywhere.

Duh.

Anyone who thinks they were reducing voter hours because they were afraid of "voter fraud", is probably also believer in propaganda like "..my internal numbers show Romney will win by landslide"

You Bush supporters should know. You've swallowed more lies about Iraq threats and WMDs than FauxNews cares to admit.

Find that "mobile chem lab" yet? Why didn't Condi question the bad intell she gave the nation...and we used it as a reason to send 4k of our troops to their deaths.

Yes, we have a corrupt manipulated system generated by both parties. And this is new to us how?

Go ahead, pick up the phone and call your Congress man or woman. Tell them who you are and that you want to talk to the rep. I will put money down you get a staffer and get the standard canned answer, "we understand your concerns."

Then call back and tell them you have $15k to contribute to their Super PAC. And watch the sorry SOB show up at your door step.

People see what they want in these things, some people see voter suppression because the more difficult you make to vote the more unlikely democrats will do it.

Same thing could be said about difficult jobs.

I see it as a character flaw that democrats in disproportional numbers to republicans let it stop them from voting.

Voter suppression is soooo republican.

Florida is a hot mess. If you allow your State to hold national elections where YOU have to stand on line for 5, 6, 7 hours your insane.

Florida, when people are standing in line for hours to vote. You have a problem.

So many of your votes go uncounted.

I wouldn't pay my taxes for such crappy management of our most basic right.

No need to generalize. Was hours shortened in Florida to decrease "voter fraud"?

If you have people standing on line for hours, what reason would a Gov call for shorter hours?

You can place your head in the sand if you wish. Bottom line is the Gov and a States Election board should not allow 7 hour lines to vote for our Nation's leader.

Al Gore tried to have all the polls closed in Florida in 2000 at 7PM..........the Panhandle is on a different time zone..two counties in Ohio got 140% voter turn out in 2012.....voter supression..illegal voting go hand in hand with democrats.

A movie and an angry mob made them do it. Democrats lie. Benghazi is proof. They are stupid and they stink. The sad part is, they vote too. But they are still stupid and they stink. Benghazi proves it.
