Quite true.
Let's separate the powers here.
US citizenship...for those who aren't, should be an individual choice.

If individual's so choose to become a US citizens, and fulfills the legal requirements expected of him/her in order to achieve such or to be considered for the granting of such...then leave it to the time, tried and true process that is already in place.

The courts should stick with the fundamentals of its function....to interpret the law and to determine if there have been any civil and constitutional breaches of in this case...an individual's rights. NOT TO DETERMINE OR MAKE THAT DECISION or assume to be the political voice or presuppose to know.....whether all American Samoans should be US citizens or want to be US citizens.

Those who initiated the suit are not the voice of the majority of the citizens of American Samoa.

I could care less about this issue. I was born in Am. Samoa but grew up in the states all my life. Joined the army and now work as a firefighter. In other words, there is really no limit or difference on what a samoan born in Am. Samoa can do from what a samoan born in the states can do. The only difference ive been told was that you cant vote in presidential elections, but that is also crap because Im registered to vote and i vote every year with no problem. Many times throughout my life when filling out different forms or paperwork, there may be a question that asks, Are you a US citizen? If I put no, it then asks me, Are you you a permanent resident? In other words, do you have a green card, which obviously we dont need. So im forced to put yes that im a citizen and I never have any problems with that. Thats just been my experience with this issue.

It doesn't really matter. The court can rule if being US national or Us citizen is a proper name. If not, its easier to become a US citizen.

Sooner or later the libs/dems/white house will let all illegal Mexicans become US citizens so why not American Samoans?

LOL... Pago, these liberals wanted us to be a bit sensitive, PC and label them "Undocumented Aliens" accordingly, which is a bunch of Bull manures if you ask me!

I don't blame the WH for jumping the gun to make these illegals future Democrat voters by offering them citizenship plus all sorts of government freebies.

We didn't sneak across the border to find employment, but I fully support Eni's stance to leave it the individual to make that choice or let Am. Samoa voters decide...

This is an issue that ONLY the people LIVING in Am. Samoa should decide. Why? Legal experts say the entire U.S. Constitution would have to apply in the territory if people born in American Samoa received citizenship at birth. They say this would prevent certain communal land ownership rules, such as favoring those with Samoan blood.
