Over 20% of American family households on food stamps. Almost 25 million households collecting food stamps. They must be cheating the system. So if true, I do agree we are in a recovery.

Besides the 'War On Pot' has been a class war since the begining .
A war on the Type of people Conservatives percieved to be Pot users.
If they were really Concerned 'about the children' and the well being of society Alchohol and Big Tobbacco would have been out of business 50 years ago.

Of course the wages the private sector can get awy with paying might have something to do with Food Stamp statistics.

You're a liar and completely self-deluded. All, every single one, studies done on marijuana show it to be debilitating to the normal human psyche. It alters chemicals to such an extent, that even if you stop, it can be detected in you a month later. Space, time and distance are totally impaired under its influence. People who smoke marijuana are incapable of flying aircraft. There are Australian and other studies discovering a direct corollary between pot use and developing female type breasts in males. Look at what it did to John Malkovich! Marijuana use by males reduces their sperm count. It also alters the hormonal balances in women, so that males they carry to term don't get enough hormones to make them fully male. The increases in childhood diseases such as autism and other severe anomolies have occurred in direct correlation with the imposition of marijuana onto youth in America by Communists starting in the 1960s. Potheads are cowards, weaklings and deviants generally, but many have become active killers. One can examine the affects of pot on inner city youth and its destruction of their emotional and intellectual development. The President does a disservice to the youth of America with such nonsense and so do you.
Troutboy you have alot of competition but you STILL hold the title of Number One Bull Goose Teabagging Looney here on Topix.

I believe there is a marriage between government and private side agendas. The main issue is getting the most production at a human related price. There is a multiple of production by employees at fast food places and retailers like wal mart over many government employees. In fact, those places like fast food and wal mart enable the generous wages and benefits of government employees compared to them. On the issue of food stamps and other government payouts, perhaps the progressives giving tax cuts and rebates to the working class would at least give the impression they are for the peon. Therefore many more people get to have relief getting back a little of what they pay in. This is a dangerous game. Especially with the boomers retiring and having their intestines extruded from them by corrupted politicians. It is going to be a sad site when many of the elderly the next few decades fall below the mendoza line of survival and the politicians have to respond to it compassionately after they institute death panels to save resources. They stole the wealth of the aging working class the last several years. Now social security/medicare is going to mean the difference between life and death big time. Demographics is not paid attention to. And since irresponsible behaviors are going along full speed ahead, this is not good. This capitalism hate is almost to funny to comment on. Especially when the collector lives off the producer at cheaper rates complaining about it while using the non priveledged themselves to live better.

This is the first thing Obama has said that I can agree with.

Alcohol does 100 times the damage to families and society as a whole than weed.

Weed is a plant and represents life.

Alcohol represents rot.

You're article also states regarding pot that an increased mortality is not seen in the "GENERAL PUBLIC"! The pot heads in this country are hardly the general public. Approx only 30% of Americans fall into this category.

Happy you asked you little teenage punk doper.
Marijuana replaces chemicals in the brain and fools the endocrine system into producing less of the correct chemicals. It creates delusional thinking and distorted perceptions. It is a mild hallucinogenic for most people, but can cause the most radical personality conflict in some. It distorts needed inhibitions keeping people safe from predators, such as the homosexual, who got his hands on you after he drugged you. Marijuana is an insidiously dangerous gateway drug that stagnates emotional and intellectual development, especially emotional We have a teenager as President of the United States!
Cord, your level of thinking it quite sad. You have a very "basic level" of thinking. You honestly should challenge yourself a bit more, and try some NEXT level thinking. You fight against Marijuana, do you fight against prescription meds? Or Alcohol? In fact I guarantee, that you have a medicine cabinet full of over the counter meds and prescription meds that are probably not locked and out of a child way. Should Child services be called on you as well. LETS get something straight. Marijuana is not anymore of a gateway drug than prescription meds. There is not 1 death linked to marijuana at all. Drug overdoses bolster our death rate more than any other accidental death that there is.There have been more rape victims, deaths by automobile, Children childhoods all have been RECORDED TO HAVE BEEN DESTROYED BY ALCOHOL AND PRESCRIPTION MEDS. FACT IS, IT IS NOT MORE DANGEROUS. FACT! HERE is where the 'NEXT LEVEL" thinking comes in. Separate your personal BELIEFS FROM FACT. YOU personally believe that it is not. THATS YOUR OPINION THATS NOT FACT.
MARIJUANA WAS ILLEGAL BECAUSE THE GOVERMENT HAD NO WAY OF TRACKING PROFIT WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO TAX IT. NEVER BECAUSE IT WAS DANGEROUS!
LASTLY, DONT YOU WANT AMERICA TO BE 100% AMERICA? WE CANT DO THAT IF WE STILL ARE IN DEBT TO CHINA AND MIDDLE EASTERN COMPANIES.
COLORADO HAS RAISED OVER 5 MILLION DOLLARS SINCE JAN 1ST( COULD HAVE BEEN MORE BUT STORES LITERALLY COULD NOT KEEP UP WITH DEMAND) ITS IS PROJECTED TO MAKE OVER 400MILLION DOLLARS BY YEAR END. WHICH COLORADO WILL GET APPROX. 18% OF THIS REVENUE WHICH IS CLOSE TO 80 MILLION DOLLARS THAT GOES DIRECTLY TO THE STATE. IMAGINE IF ALL OF US STATES DID THIS OR EVEN HALF. WE NO LONGER HAVE TO GET OIL OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT OVERSEAS AND WE COULD HAVE EVERYTHING LITERALLY AMERICAN MADE( WHICH SHOULD MAKE YOU HAPPY, REPUBLICANS ARE ALL ABOUT BEING 100% "AMERICAN" )WE WOULD PAY LESS TAXES BUT STILL WOULD HAVE A REPUBLICAN CULTURE TO IT.
When you make comments as such based upon your beliefs it makes you look like an idiot. State FACTS ok! then try backing it up with proof.
And not basic scientific crap! Coffee, Cigs, EVEN CERTAIN FOODS HAVE PROVEN TO CAUSE "INHIBITIONS" SHOULD THE BE BANNED TOO??? EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT? LOL THAT IS CRAP SOMETHING ELSE THAT CANNOT BE PROVEN OR EVEN HAS BEEN PROVEN( THERE YOU GO AGAIN STRETCHING THE ISSUE TO FEED YOUR ON BELIEF TO OTHERS). THERE ARE 100 OF REPORTED STORIES OF FAMILIES AND PERSONS, NEVER HAS MARIJUANA EVER BEEN LINKED TO ANY OF THEM. WHEN HAVE YOU EVER HEARD THE NEWS OR PAPER SAY " THIS PERSON OVERDOSED ON HEROIN BUT IT AS THE MARIJUANA THAT STARTED IT." IT SOUNDS FOOLISH YOU SOUND FOOLISH.
WE GET IT YOU HATE OBAMA( WE WONT EVEN GET INTO WHY) AND YOU HATE MARIJUANA OVER ALCOHOL OR ANY OTHER DRUG DESPITE THE PROVEN FACTS! MEDS AND ALCOHOL HAVE WAY MORE DEATH COUNTS THAN MARIJUANA ,FACT!
YOU HAVE YOUR OWN BELIEFS I GET IT! MOST RELIGIOUS REPUBLICANS ARE PERFECT. I'M SURE YOU WOULD NEVER TAKE ANY PRESCRIPTION MEDS OR OVER THE COUNTER MEDS AS THEY ALSO DO ALL OF THINGS YOU LISTED ABOVE, AND IF YOU ARE I'M CALLING CHILD SERVICES. I AM SURE YOU DO NOT DRINK AS IT ALSO DOES ALL THINGS YOU DESCRIBED UP ABOVE.
WITH ALL DO RESPECT, SHUTUP! FEED US W/ REAL FACTS NOT ONES WE CANT PROVE. THOSE ARE BELIEFS

Same can be said about alcohol.

You KNOW what happened when they tried to PROHIBIT alcohol (HINT: Prohibition)

It is just a matter of time before states latch onto pot as a GREAT TAX GENERATOR (and there isn't a state that isn't in need of MORE MONEY).

I await the day for the PRE-ROLLED doobie, sold in packs/cartons like cigarettes.

This is without doubt a gift for the world. The image that comes to mind is the President spreading out this news like a gift amongst the crowd. The onus is then on whoever picks it up.

I for one think it could be a great tonic for these times.
