While all that is true, I have to admit that the idea of having him represent the country with "thoughtless self-interest" appeals to me. It's about time we had somebody lead us who doesn't care about kissing the world's collective arse, or about making war- just making MONEY. THEN we can deal with social issues and all and do it with real freedom, not debt. If the country tanks, so do people like Trump, but politicians like Obama float to the top on the backs of the failure of others, not success. You know what I mean?

No, we don't all know about Bush. Where are his military records, his driving records, his college papers, his masters thesis, the financial records, etc.? Why was he doing "community service" when he should have been showing up for duty?
Why the double standard for Obama?
Thanks for bringing up the military records- aren't Obama supporters the ones who ground on Bush's military records for over a year, and who got their chops busted for it? And I don't mean a fringe element, I mean major politicians and mainstream media? They lie and you swear by it.

Don't care about master's thesis or driving records. I care about his student loan docs and college grades.

Talk about leading with your chin. Yawn.

What about Obama? Why don't you care as much as you did about Bush?

You won't answer because you can't. At least not honestly.

Bullsh*t. You've never worn a military uniform a day of your life in any official capacity. And you've said so on these boards before.
You're a liar, Lie Spambo. A pathetic, mewling, two-faced ignorant liar.
You show me the post and post number moron. I've talked about it several times. Probably the same time your parole officers was setting on your face.

Actually, he's a serious contender for the "Lifetime Acievement in Douchebaggery" award... beating out stellar achievements in douchebaggery by the cast of Jersey Shore. Who but a douchebag refers to themselves in the third person? Trump is a world-class douchebag...

I agree with you on the "somebody with a vested interest in our country's success". What troubles me is that I am honestly beginning to doubt such a candidate even exists in today's world. However; that would be an entirely other philosophical discussion in itself (and a lengthy one at that).
As for the reason Obama got elected... I think it may be less his promises and more the fact that he simply WASN'T McCain (and God forbid Palin... imagine if McCain keeled over and she ended up in the White House... now THAT'S a scary thought). I think the republicans threw that race for a myriad of complicated political reasons which I don't care to get into at this time. And just for the record, I am not a liberal... I'm moderate with a slight left lean (not that you accused me of being a liberal, I just wanted to clarify for posterity). I reserve the right to raise the b/s flag on either side of the aisle.
As for Trump's candidacy... he MAY be a shrewd businessman. He may be right about some things regarding Obama, the economy and the wars. I just don't think he has a place in the White House. There's more to running this country than numbers. He seems to have a lot of talent with numbers and self-promotion, but that's about it.
Fair enough. I am a moderate that leans right. I thought Trump was more credible before he went on the attack- he never liked Bush, either, though. lol

He's flawed, but he is very well educated and has "people". There would still be more than enough politicians and statesmen to guide him. The biggest problem is that I think he is unelectable. Just like most of the other Republican candidates that have spoken up so far. None of them will beat Obama, even if he deserves to lose. It seems like one side is always overreaching when they get the upper hand- and then the pendulum swings. Leaving those of us in the middle who like facts and pragmatism wondering how we get represented.

Yeah, you are right. He would have a plethora of "people" and advisers to guide him if he were to be elected. I mean honestly... ALL presidents are guided and none are really as powerful as many people think.
I think a big reason he is un-electable is because he has spent a good protion of his life (specifically the last decade or so) injecting himself into pop culture and cultivated himself as this "pop culture icon". While his acumen is admirable on certain levels, it is just not becoming of a presidential candidate. I think Americans (in their heart of hearts) don't want a television personality or pop culture icon for a president. I know there was Reagan, but he'd been a governor already and had a political track record under his belt before he ran. He also lost on his first bid. I could be wrong though. I mean... I honestly didn't think Obama would get elected. Only time will tell...
I think if Rep's want to stand a chance, they are going to have to forget Trump and Palin and find a legitimate candidate among them and get behind him with everything they have. And that candidate will have to be on the moderate side.

McCain was a terrible candidate. But why did Obama really get elected? The same reason most politicians are elected- because they make promises they can't keep, and if and when they fail they lose little, while the citizens pay for it.
That is why I want somebody who has a vested interest in our county's success, not just in their own political career.
I'm not convinced that Trump is not just a useful idiot, but his take on Obama and the economy and the wars is dead-on.
But his lifestyle, all the bankruptcies, all the divorces, is that the candidate the Republican party wants to be represented by? I mean, wouldn't that make them throw all their good ole Christian values and morals in the wind?

Student loan records are purged after a certain amount of time. The only thing left will be his transcripts.

Where are those military records? How was he able to bypass a waiting list of 150 to get into the TANG? How did he get into flight school with a score of 25? How about his driving record? Why was he doing Community Service? Are these things that you would give Obama a pass on? I don't believe you would -- it's your double standard.
