It was on foreign policy where Ryan was most obviously outmatched, as I assumed he would be. Especially in the sections of the debate on Afghanistan and Syria, Ryan was stuck defending Romney’s very similar positions on both while trying to argue against administration policy. It wasn’t an enviable task, and Ryan was limited by what he had to work with, but it doesn’t change the fact that Ryan didn’t inspire much confidence that he is prepared to be president if the need arose. It’s not surprising that Ryan didn’t do very well in these sections. He isn’t “fluent” on foreign policy, and that should have been obvious all along. Ryan’s boosters did him a great disservice by pretending that he was.

Ryan’s limited experience on foreign policy was on display all night. Perhaps the most painful moments were when he attacked the administration’s response to the Green movement. This was the clearest example of Ryan’s reliance on standard movement conservative talking points on foreign policy for the entire debate, and it was clear that he thought that everyone was supposed to find this damning so that all he had to do was mention it. For almost all voters, Ryan’s lack of experience and preparation won’t matter, but he did nothing to reassure worried voters that a Romney administration would not keep U.S. forces in Afghanistan well into the future or that it wouldn’t pursue a more aggressive policy in Syria.

Biden largely ignored the first question he was asked about intelligence regarding the consulate attack, and used it as a springboard to recite the usual list of administration foreign policy decisions that they want to celebrate. Despite some resistance from Ryan, Biden was able to skate through the debate without facing much criticism on the handling of the consulate attack and its aftermath. As usual, the Libyan intervention and its effects received no attention, and it’s not as if Ryan was going to bring them up. Biden emphasized U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2014, which created the misleading impression that there would be no U.S. forces in the country beyond that date. That isn’t correct, but Ryan didn’t challenge him on this, which allowed him to say it several times without being contradicted. Biden exaggerated the extent of U.S. support for the Syrian opposition, which has been relatively minimal and indirect. He kept pushing the idea that a Romney administration would get the U.S. into a new war. Despite Ryan’s denials on this point, they weren’t terribly convincing. That remains a problem for the Republican ticket.

The decision to raid Osama bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan and kill him was made without President Obama – and actually was kept from him until after the helicopters already were in Pakistani airspace – according to a new report from a retired major general who cites a senior intelligence source.

The raid was handled by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Director of Central Intelligence Leon Panetta and others in this way because Obama had vetoed multiple earlier opportunities to attack the man behind the 9/11 terror attacks, the report said.

This is the poor leadership of O'bama, Ryan was talking about. Leadership and O'bama should not be used in the same sentence.

Will Americans remember the substance of tonight's vice presidential debate?

Or will they remember an "openly contemptuous," "cranky old man debating a polite young man"?

If Team Romney’s overarching hope tonight was that the 42-year-old Paul Ryan would appear capable of filling a president’s shoes, they have no reason to be disappointed.

But Biden, too, did not disappoint. For the last week, the Obama campaign has had nothing to cheer about. Now it has something.

It’s often said that it’s the job of vice presidential candidates to act like a pitbull. And since President Obama last week came off like a mopey poodle, Vice President Joe Biden needed to be a pitbull vis-a-vis Rep. Paul Ryan tonight. He was.

Before the debate had even ended, dual “narratives” were issued from the Republican and Democratic camps. The former said Biden was rude, overbearing, and too often given to exasperated laughs and smirks. The latter were delighted by Biden’s aggressiveness. They saw a guy who vigorously delivered punches — on the 47 Percent, on tax cuts for the wealthy, on “Let Detroit go bankrupt,” on Medicare and Social Security privatization — that President Obama docilely left in his pocket.

Who’s right?

Perhaps they both are.

On Benghazi, and the terror attack that killed four Americans, Biden blamed the intelligence network for telling the Obama administration the violence was sparked by a film project critical of Islam.
Like I said--the script for today was to blame the CIA. I stated that earlier this morning. The O'bama team did not fail me.

How can you even consider voting for a party who had done the following!?
1 - They've gone to war every time they are in power, killing young troops like they were toy soldiers. Do you want to go to war again?
2 - They've destroyed the real estate markets 2 times in a row to pay for these war because war devalues America!
3 - They've CRASHED the stock markets 2 times in a row!
4 - They have almost bankrupted America!
5 - They tried to bankrupt the greatest and biggest companies in the world in Ford GM & Chrysler!! Then they tried and partly succeeded in bankruptiing American banks!
This party now wants to go back to WAR & revert to the policies that caused the above problems in the first place! WHY!?
They don't care about the lives of the old ... They don't care about the lives of the young. They are purposly weakening America's strong hold, new business, ideas, innovation, freedom ... NOT WAR!! NOT DESTRUCTION!! NOT BANKRUPTING HARD WORKING AMERICANS & TAKING THEIR HOMES!!
This party was in power when America got attacked! New York was attacked when they were in power!! The first time ever!! What does that tell you!!
How in God's name can anyone consider voting for this party!? What is wrong with you!? Are you Anti American!? Are you trying to bankrupt America!? Are you brainwashed & don't even know it!?
How can anyone consider voting in the the same party that has done the above 2 times in a row!? Why would you think this time is going to be any different!! It's going to be worse if they get into power again!! History show prove this party causes the problems and this party is always trying to fix them!!
Make the RIGHT choice, don't let this cult party destory what America is!! The greatest country in the World who doesn't believe in war!!
