MITT ROMNEY SERIAL LIAR

here is a taste:

Broadcast to a Sunday morning audience on NBC’s Meet the Press, Mitt Romney looked straight into the living rooms of America and told a lie. It wasn’t a major lie, perhaps more like a fib. But when Newt Gingrich challenged him about the ads that the super PAC affiliated with Romney had been running, the former governor pleaded ignorance.“I haven’t seen them,” he said indignantly. Then, barely 15 seconds later, perhaps forgetting he had just claimed never to have seen one of the ads, he offered a detailed description of “the ad I saw.” Whether Romney never saw an ad or not is not the issue. What matters is that Mitt Romney seems to have no problem staring the American people in the face and flat out lying to us.

Is Mitt Romney is a serial liar?

Throughout this nascent campaign year much has been made of Romney’s various gaffes that reveal him to be not one of us but rather a well-heeled man of privilege, shockingly unfamiliar with the lives of ordinary Americans. Recall his $10,000 bet offer, his disingenuous “pink slip” worries, his statement about earning “not very much” from giving speeches even though he raked in $374,000 from speechmaking in 2010, or his claim that we shouldn’t worry about the very poor because they have a safety net to catch them –yes, a safety net that provides families of four barely $20 per day for all their meals.

But we know that Romney is rich, privileged, and fairly isolated in his wealth. That’s become a meme in this campaign. We also know he changes positions to fit his political needs –perhaps more so than other politicians and thus his flip-flopping has become another Romney meme for 2012.

What we don’t yet want to admit is a more discomfiting idea: that the man our country may elect as President seems to have no problem lying to us, that he is accumulating a record of lies and misrepresentations on the campaign trail that goes far beyond the exaggerated rhetoric characteristic of most candidates. Yes, politicians might fudge a statistic, mitigate a failure, embellish a story, or take a little extra credit for success, and because of that most pundits and journalists have folded Romney’s lies and misrepresentations into the big tent of exaggerated political rhetoric that reporters now take for granted even if they roll their eyes when hearing it. No big deal, we’re led to believe.

But Romney is different from the others. He seems to make claims that he knows are not true..........blab blab blah

President Obama knew he would lie his azzzzzz off.

Global Index Praises U.S. As ‘Sole Bright Spot’ In Sluggish World Economy

The U.S. economy, while still in the process of a sustained recovery, is considered to be a “sole bright spot” in the world economy according to a new report from the Financial Times and the Brookings Institute.

Combining measurements of real economic activity, financial data, and surveys of business and consumer confidence, the TIGER index employs advanced statistical methodology to illustrate the simultaneous movements of indicators that tend to be measured very differently in various countries. According to the Financial Times, which featured the latest report on its Monday front page under the headline “US defies threat of global recession.”[...]

“The global economic recovery is on the ropes, battered by political conflicts within and across countries, lack of decisive policy actions, and governments’ inability to tackle deep-seated problems such as unsustainable public finances that are stifling growth,” said Eswar Prasad, a Brookings senior fellow and creator of the TIGER index.“The US economy remains the sole bright spot, with economic activity, employment and financial markets all showing unexpected although still modest strength.”

According to The National Memo, the Times and Brookings Institute report asserts that a lack of demand is the primary reason global economic recovery remains tepid at best. With that said, the U.S. economy is in better shape than other developed nations.

Republicans, including Mitt Romney, have campaigned hard on the idea that the U.S. economy is turning into another Greece or another Spain, but that simply isn’t supported by the facts. It’s pure fantasy.

Mitt Romney CNN Interview: The 47% Comment Is 'Not What I Meant'
Romney's walk back from the 47 percent comments underscores a general walk toward a more moderate plank during the last week. In his initial comment, he clearly wasn't just talking about electoral math. He lamented that he would never be able to convince those people who paid no federal income taxes to take personal responsibility for themselves......
Elsewhere in the interview, the Republican nominee continued to present his tax plan as something that would be balanced in its budgeting and maintain the progressivity of the code. But while he pushed back forcefully on President Barack Obama's charge that he didn't have the means to pay for, what amounted to a $5 trillion tax cut, he continued to avoid offering specifics with respect to pay-fors.
Tax Policy Center Stands By Mitt Romney Tax Plan Study
William Gale, co-director of the Tax Policy Center, stood by his critical study of Mitt Romney's tax plan on Monday.
The study shows that if his plan were enacted, the Republican presidential candidate would mathematically be forced to limit popular middle-class deductions to pay for the across-the-board cuts. Romney's plan calls for a 20 percent reduction in marginal tax rates, plus the elimination of the estate tax and the alternative minimum tax.
The Tax Policy Center concluded that fulfilling all of these goals while reducing the amount the U.S. Treasury takes in -- and making generous assumptions about the deductions and loopholes enjoyed by the wealthiest U.S. taxpayers -- would cause tax bills to rise for middle- and low-income taxpayers.
Romney has dismissed the study as "garbage," and in last Wednesday's debate denied that he wanted a "$5 trillion tax cut," which the center has estimated as the cost of Romney's plan.
The TPC looked at Romney's plan and found that the benefits would go mostly to the rich.

Shrinks chime in...

very good read...

What good fathering can do for a speaker...

"What we have before us in these debates is an almost archetypal confrontation – between a man who was and is an exceptionally good father and a man who was deserted by his.

Good fathering is the story of Mitt Romney’s life. He has five sons who are, by all accounts, devoted to him and vice-versa. These boys grew up with a father who, although wealthy and successful, worked like a demon, doted on them, and apparently devoted an extraordinary amount of time to charitable work, in which he also involved them. Indeed, I’ve never heard of a politician who did anything quite like it.

Almost the polar opposite, Barack Obama’s father abandoned him twice and then ended up an irresponsible drunken victim of multiple car crashes. This sad behavior precipitated a search by Obama that brought him in contact with several father surrogates, notably Frank Marshall Davis and Jeremiah Wright, that it would be hard to brand as anywhere near satisfactory.(Davis was a pornographer and about Wright the less said the better.) No Mitt Romneys there.

If you think this is lost on Barack Obama when he stands opposite Romney, then you think the president is stupid, which he is obviously not. But it’s worse for him yet, because he is standing opposite a father who has worked harder, has more experience, and is more knowledgeable and charitable than he and he, on some level at least, must know it.

Not only that, most of what Mitt Romney has done, including graduating simultaneously from Harvard Law and Harvard Business, is an open book, while almost everything about Obama remains purposefully hidden.(He knows this too, obviously.) Obama lives in fear of exposure – and thus in fear of Romney who, although rich, is much more the self-made man of the two, the ultimate father figure"
