Your statement should ask the important question - what if Mr. Martin was NOT defenseless - except for a packet of skittles and iced tea - and had used a gun to fend off a man creeping, crawling, stalking, and following him on a street at seven in the evening.
Would you "prefer" that someone other than Zimmerman had being the killer?
Shooting a person following you who is breaking no laws is murder.

It is also illegal for a 17 year old to possess a gun unsupervised in Florida...so the important question that should be asked is why anyone here would take you seriously when you appear to be willfully ignorant of basic facts?

What does the Simpson verdict have to do with this case? Why are so many right wingers and supporters of Zimmerman so anxious to talk about any other case but his?

Smells like evasion, frankly.

Enabling white vigilantes to not only possess guns but use them with impunity any time they "fear" themselves to be "in danger" is at least as much a recipe for disaster as letting 17-year-olds have guns.

Zimmerman was prosecuted for murder but not convicted - of either that or manslaughter. So if it's against the law, why didn't he pay the price?

In Florida if you see someone beating someone else with a pipe, you can legally shoot them.

That is neither self defense or SYG.

Which is what I would do if I saw someone threatening another with a knife or any deadly weapon, with one exception.

I would tell the assailant to stop, and fire if they didn't.

In fact if I saw Trayvon Martin sitting on Zimmerman's chest beating him, I would have told him to stop, then shot him if he didn't. Legally.

There doesn't even have to be a weapon involved if the assailant is on top of the victim.

For instance in Miami a naked black man was on top of a white man - eating his face.

A police officer told him to stop, then shot him when he didn't.

Any citizen could do the same legally, as long as the victim either can't retreat, or a deadly weapon is being used.

When in Florida, be wise, be very nice to others.

Because he didn't break the law.

White or "white hispanic?" LOL

Allowing for self defense when one's head is getting smashed into the concrete is a recipe for disaster? Only for the one doing the smashing, as happened in the Zimmerman case.......

Murder and manslaughter are indeed against the law, Zimmerman didn't "pay the price" because the jury agreed he committed neither........

Your problem is that Trayvon had done nothing illegal and was defending himself against an armed man following him for no reason.

So in effect, you'd be murdering the victim here. And in a different situation, that could become even more obvious...and another reason why you shouldn't let armed citizens act as vigilantes.

I said "white" and that's what I meant. I wasn't speaking specifically of Zimmerman, who's white and Hispanic.

It's alleged Zimmerman was "getting his head smashed into concrete," but of course that's because he was stalking Trayvon Martin around the community for no reason, and against the advice of the emergency dispatcher he'd already talked to. He initiated the confrontation, IOW.

The jury didn't find him guilty, but he nevertheless killed an unarmed kid on his own responsibility. That makes him guilty, whatever the courts say.
