This must be satire. It's like asking if you still beat your wife. It's like encouraging the town drunk to drive while impaired since it might wear off and the booze stores will eventually close or go out of business.
Not at all. The world WILL run out of cheap accessible oil sooner rather than later. I'm say the U.S. should keep 100% of our oil in reserve for when that eventuality occurs.

What harm would there be if we imported 100% of our oil from Canada or Mexico or even the Middle East?

I thought the progressive left was moving towards eliminating oil/coal energy. Why save it?

No, Big Oil is currently trying to drill EVERYWHERE and export as much oil as possible to the highest bidder.
I say we should ban ALL drilling ANYWHERE in America and immediately stop ALL production of American oil and import 100% of our oil.
Then once the foreign oil runs out, the rest of the world will have to come to US for their oil/gas

Because we're gonna need TONS of it to make the switch to renewable energy. Since factories don't currently run on renewable energy, it will take fossil fuels to produce enough solar panels & wind turbines to make the switch. Kind of a catch 21 situation.

So we save all our oil for future use, and burn foreign oil in our cars and factories in the meantime.

That's because I'm not the typical "leftie" who can easily be pigeonholed. I'm a REAL person with varying opinions, mostly conservative.

Well you do have a point, if we save it until the middle east runs out, it will be worth $2-300 a gallon. The down side is we won't have anybody to drill it for us, we'll have to contract with middle east companies. De ja vu?

Right... because there is a real shortage of oil companies in the world and some of them are from the Middle East...

Romney said he would build the XL pipeline. If we produced more oil,we would only export more oil
I just would not be worth the cost just to put people to work.

You are so right.

If you want to spend more than you make forever vote for politicians as they know how to spend other peoples money without shame or restraint.

Total bullshit.
Bush's WARS. 4,000 dead soldiers, only victory is Saddam, who Had nothing to do with 9-11, and he totally bankrupted the economy with insane military spending for 10 years, in a war that will be over in a few weeks and we will be treated as liberators.

Obama's war...
Khaddaffi dead
Osama Bun laden dead.
Instead of thousands of soldiers killed, we lost 4. A diplomat and 3 marines.

Obama has done well on the middle east.
Even though he is an evil democrat.

Explain " Victory " in a war that will be treated as liberators. You know as much about the Afgan situation as I kinow about Yak herding.

You just earned the " Lefty of the Week " award with that comment.

Slow down on your LEFTY ignorance pills they are turning you into a turnip.

Dem POTUS troop KIAs since the end of WII 93,000. GOP troop KIAs POTUS kills 6,000.

Bush lost the Bush War in Iraq in 2004 when he told America it was going to be a slam dunk.

We are still paying for his slam dunk.

Real vets know the difference between leaders and draft dodging cowards like Romney, Keyes, Cain, and AWOL politically connected evaders like George Bush.

Americans of any political persuasion KNOW it doesn't make sense to DEPEND on UNSTABLE FOREIGN countries in UNSTABLE REGIONS OF THE WORLD for OUR energy!
WE MUST DEVELOP OUR OWN ENERGY!
Don't give me that alternative energy crap! That will take DECADES and America can wait for DECADES to develop alternative sources of energy.
LET'S WORK ON BOTH at the same time.
STOP DEPENDING ON FOREIGN ENERGY = ELECT ROMNEY!
Obama's foreign policy has blown up in his face and soon, so too, will Obama's energy policy.
NO in NOvember
NO to OWEbama
Oh come on. Ten percent of the remaining oil in the world is in Iraq, and Bush invaded Iraq to try to stabilize oil prices. Most all of the OPEC countries are in the Middle East. 2/3rds of the remaining oil in the world sits in the Persian Gulf so Cheney and Bush's plan was to invade Iraq, bomb Syria and then invade Iran and build military bases around the Persian Gulf to try to control the oil in the Middle East. Get a clue. Oil is at $100 a barrel in a worldwide recession, and it shot up to $150 a barrel which caused the recession in the first place. Oil has always been about $15-20 a barrel, but now that the easy to get pools of oil have all but run dry, we are having to do deep water drilling, frack for shale oil and destroy the environment in total to dig up sand tar oil, which is why oil is now almost $100 a barrel even though China, Europe and the U.S. are ALL in recessions. The age of cheap oil is over and global warming is in our faces. You want to depend on $150 a barrel oil rather than develop new energy technologies?? Really?? Then be prepared to pay $7 a gallon for gasoline. You lie that Republicans will get us off of foreign oil. They invade the countries in the Middle East that have oil. Get a clue. All they talk about is a war with Iran.
Number one, two and three oil producing nations - Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran. Get a clue. These are oil wars instead of getting us off of foreign oil.
