Newt must know the Constitution.

The U.S. Constitution states the validity of the Public Debt shall not be questioned.

No, he doesn't know shit about the constitution.

Newt actually said "...because no one wants to see the country default on its debts..." So, he thinks default is only an unpopular option, and not a violation of the congressional oath of office.

Gingrich is a big loser and it is time for him to shup up after his successful support of the Obama's propaganda attack on Mitt Romney and portraying him as corrupt rich who steal money from the American poor. Obama is wrong big time to threat the GOP ruled Congress. Under his corrupt wasting of our money America already became 'Deadbeat'. Big showdown is coming to DC when US Congress aims at stopping the dictator Obama from spending trillions of dollars of the money of our children, grandchildren and their children in discriminatory way on his corrupt liberal Democratic friends like there is no tomorrow for our children in America. Texas Congressman Burgess is right to stand up to the dictator bully threats to use as much money as he desires for his double size salaried liberal Federal Unions employees and for free checks to by the votes of his liberal parasites that refuse to work. Burgess said that "It's the most preposterous thing I've ever heard," and that Obama is going to have to negotiate” about the money of the American people that he holds as if it was his. In addition, Boehner is right to stand up to the al mighty dictator of America Barack Hussein Obama who seek trashing the constitution and disregards the US Congress because he believe nobody will stand up to his Empty failed Suite and his rudeness and arrogance against the American people. Will GOP congressmen and Senator ever stand up with Speaker Boehner to stop the Obama express train to Hell and the destruction of America by the out of control reckless dictator? Since when a corrupt president of America can use the American people’s money for his interest group of corrupt liberal parasites and wasting their money like a drunken sailor while US Congress, US Senators and the US Supreme Court are missing in action? The all-mighty dictator Obama is talking and walking like dictator while he promise to go around the Congress and trash the constitution with his executive orders Putin and Chavez style while the liberal media applauded the dictator tactics of sending them free Obama checks and reward for 26 million Americans not paying taxes, not working and not paying their student loans of mortgages because they kept his in power.

with a mid-term election in 2014, Newt is right.
.
I am by no means saying that a debt-ceiling shouldn't exist (Bernake), but if the US credit rating gets dropped down again people will hold congress responsible.
as it is anyone up for re-election in 2014 has to be worried.

Apparently, neither do you and your homeboy, Mr. Bill, WMCOL!

You left out a part.....the twists and turns of the left propaganda!! LMAO

The 14th Amendment reads:“validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned.”

Because the Constitution itself says that only Congress can raise money, only Congress can spend money, and only Congress can borrow money. The president knows that. Every single president – from Woodrow Wilson to Barack Obama – when they want to raise money, goes to the Congress and gets permission for it.

Your little dictator wannabe doesn't have the authority.

Newt should have just stopped his sentence at “unwise”… The right was out-maneuvered time and time again by our Osama-killing President (GO SEE ZERO DARK THIRTY) as he was re-elected in a landslide with a mandate, for a second time.
We the People came out to show our strong support for this great President because he kept this nation safe over his first term without a single terrorist attack happening on his watch… and the way his change in policies single-handedly found and killed Osama bin Laden vindicated all of us who can now laugh in the face of every right-winger and say “We told you so”, LOL!

Try harder.

The constitution does not mention borrowing money.
And, the money is already spent (by the Congress) and now that body refuses to pay the public debt.

This is not hard to understand. The House of Representatives are threatening to violate their oath to uphold the constitution.

And, Bohner is no dictator. He leads on an out-of-control mob; and they lead him. The whole GOP is OUT OF CONTROL, and soon deserving of impeachment, should they default on their constitutional responsibility.

But, like all bullies, they will back down.

What do you think should be done? There are only two ways to improve a balance sheet: increase revenue and/or decrease expenditures.

Increase revenue by taxing the hell out of Evil Rich people? OK, how much will be enough? Top earners already pay in excess of 50% in state, local and federal income taxes. How much will satisfy you?

Cut expenditures? Where? You probably will immediately cite defense spending because that's what you've been trained to do. But defense is LESS THAN 25% of the budget. Why won't lefties consider cutting entitlements, which are over 60% of the expense?

OK, King Bill. What do you think will make lefties happy? Go back to the 2008-2010 Congress with Princess Pelosi and Dickweed Reid racking up nearly $2 TRILLION in new debt annually?

We certainly need to cut federal spending.

What most people do not realize is that 2/3 of our states enrich themselves through federal redistribution of wealth.

The place I would start to cut is this program, which has grown over the years by individual congressmen gaining varous chairmanships, and hosing federal money into their own districts.

Prof Cantor, of Dowling College, has tabulated this flow of federal welfare from soome state to others.

Please look at the table 1-2, on pg. 12.
Those welfare states, ranked 1 to 34; suck money from the 'daddy states' listed as 35 to 50.

http://martincantor.com/files/FederalbudgetAn...

I would eliminate by cutting, or transfer, all those imbalances of payments to these welfare states. That alone would bring the federal budget into the black, and we could actually start paying down the US debt.

At the same time, I would reallocate military spending to eliminate al dead-end wasteful, non-productive programs initiated in congress (not the Pentagon) top provide constituant district jobs rather than defense.

I would be shocked if we could not cut our military spending by 20% over a decade.

It would be nice, to, to eliminate all corporate special tax breaks, and tax corporations as individual Americans are now taxed.
The supreme court has now given to corporations political rights as individuals; let us give them the responsibilities individual Americans carry too.
