The Wrath of God - Would God Ever Damn America?

Many religious leaders prophesy divine retribution for America's bad behavior. I wonder what we would be punished for.

For starters having slavery. We will also be punished for the third class treatment of Black Americans. Not to mention Jim Crow, segregation,lynchings,terroris t treatment towards other countries and sooo much more. And God will punish us righfully so.And I DON'T CARE that it your ancestors. From watching this MLK video it sounded like he pretty much demonized America and said if they don't "CHANGE" their ways god will destroy them. He also said God looks at America as a nation that doesn't even know his name (Isn't that, "God Damn America" and not "God Bless America"). He said they spend more money on wars then on programs to help the poor. All things that still apply today...

To think god is going to bless America when similar nations like Egypt, Rome, Babylon, Greece were cursed in the bible is out of touch with their religion. To think some poor brown Arab looking Hebrew guy named Yeshua (Jesus) who's nation was being occupied by the Romans just like Iraq is being occupied by America. If they think Yeshua(Jesus) supports Bush and America they're fucking nuts.

The same Yeshua(Jesus) who said it would take a camel to fit through the eye of a needle for a rich man to get into heaven yet this wars backed and funded by rich bastards. The same Yeshua (Jesus) who said they can gain the world but it doesn't mean sh*t if they lose their soul in the process. The same Yeshua (Jesus) who after he disappeared his followers were up in Rome setting fires and causing havoc and cursing Rome. So the truth is it is God Damn America intill she "CHANGES" her wicked ways then maybe one day we can say God Bless America. Yet they been saying God Bless America seen the beginning of it's ugly history and continue creating more pages to it's ugly history but expect they can somehow escape karma or can do whatever they want and are exempt from the fate of wicked nations that came before them.

First Reverend Wright didn't ask God to damn America. What he said was more of a poetic prose and those that aren't accustomed to the African American oratory style would of course have taken his comments literally. He said, "You bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki and you want us to sing God BLESS America?" he said, "No No No, God Damn America for killing innocent people." His point had nothing to do with damnation of the country he was in fact saying that we will not pretend to be happy about the things that people do in the name of America.

The way he said it was clever and completely improvised and it is something that white ministers with a few exceptions do not do. When white preachers speak they plan every word AND in some churches actually read the entire prepared sermon. Things are more spontaneous in the black church and if you've never been you won't understand.

As extreme as Rev. Wright's views on 911 are, at least they are based on his perception of U.S. foreign policy decisions. These guys are basically saying that 911 was essentially an "Act of God". If you were to take this demented view to its logical conclusion, then you could say that the 911 terrorists were acting on God's behalf! Yet, I never noticed anyone at Fox News or from the Republican Party condemning THESE religioius wackos!

God has and still is blessing America. Those in America who are indwelt by God - the Holy Spirit are both His true children & the sustaining factor why God's total wrath hasn't been poured out on America. Yet we do see some glimpses of His wrath. If God does eventually judge America, then He'll have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah and that ain't gonna happen (ever). Those speaking of karma (Hinduistic concept) and using profanity while naming God need to re-evaluate their definition of God. Many say God, but pour different meanings into the name. Read the Bible, which is God's instruction book for your life. Fall in love with Jesus and be saved from sin.
