Topix can can certainly warm up to the comments of a fascist. I think the search for "aliens" should begin at home.

It has to do with your cluelessness of how scientific polling is conducted.

ignorant bigotry?

fact is.. congress keeps bringing this bullshit immigration reform every year. and every year the people vote it down. at last count, I think we have voted it down 4 times.

and you call it ignorant bigotry?

the people just want the immigration laws to be enforced. there is no need for any "reform".

Wrong, Mister Guy. Children of undocumented parents, who were born here, should be allowed to stay, since they committed no illegal act.

Plus, udocumented people who have been here for many years, and who live productive lives, should be given a path to citizenship. The time for finding and deporting them ended long ago.

Huh? When have the people ever had an opportunity to vote on this? What electrons are you voting in?

By the way, Congress last brought this up in 2007. Not every year.

Get a clue people. Its not 11 million illegals
If these people knew there could be as many as 30 million illegals living in the U.S. and if they were legalized ,it would lower their standard of living, would they still favor giving these people a path towards citizenship? I doubt it. The people polled are obviously ill-informed.

It has been noticed that the aggressive comments are made by legal residents while the polite and thoughtful comments are made by illegals. Hmmmm.... Interesting observation. And I say grant citizenship to all non-criminal illegals who can prove that they are not a burden for the public.

Magadala-what gave you the idea that it is only "Mexicans" that jump the border? Or that they are the only people here "illegally"? Why don't you go to Mexico and try living there. Unless you are of the minority in that country that has money, you cannot afford to come here "legally". The wages paid to workers is terrible. There is so much corruption and unrest in that country we should be ashamed of ourselves for not helping them get out of that mess. Instead of focusing on our neighbors, we focus on countries across the globe that do not want our help. Reform needs to happen to help the people that really need a new beginning, want to work hard and have a chance at a good life. We forget why our ancestors came here-for that very reason.
Why is it the US's responsibility to be Mexico's welfare system and provide housing, jobs and welfare for it's uneducated, vile and violent peasants? I feel no sympathy for the human garbage Mexico had thrown over the fence into our yard. Deputy them all, violently, if necessary.

Amnesty is the only solution to the problem because it will force 11 million illegal aliens to pay taxes and that's a huge amount of money. I see that most Americans fear that the illegal immigrants will take their jobs if they get papers. That's not true since the illegal immigrants already have jobs. Nobody stays here illegally without a job. Plus those jobs are low paid jobs and most Americans would prefer to be on Welfare instead. If these people get deported America would be in a big trouble let alone the huge cost of deporting 11 million people. So guys just start thinking logically.

Wow.You really are not much of a reader. I guess it is hard to tell when you are part of the lunatic fringe, but if you ever gather up the strength to actually read the article attached to this thread you would see that poll after poll after poll show the overwhelming majority of people disagree with you.

logically, amnesty didnt fix the problem the last 3 times and wont fix it this time--hows that for logic? Read the studies, the taxes paid by illegals-made legal is on the lower end of the tax scale because they tend to work low paying jobs. Studies show, at best a break even if made legal, but if you take into account hospital and education costs, the taxpayers are on the line for the bill. Who do you think did the jobs beofre the illegal immigrants, citizens. Your post sounds like the standard pro illegal posting, and really thats all it is.

"And a CNN/ORC International poll conducted in late September indicated 56 percent of registered voters said the main focus of U.S. policy on illegal immigration should be a plan to allow them to become legal residents, with less than four in 10 saying the main emphasis should be deporting illegal immigrants and stopping more from coming to the U.S. That was a switch from last year, when only a minority said the main focus should be to allow illegal immigrants to become legal residents."

So last year their poll had completely different results. I wonder why. Did the survey a different group of people than they did last year? Did they rephrase the question(s)? Could it be that a survey of 1000 people does not represent a true sample of the population? Since they did not divulge how the survey was conducted or in fact what the actual question(s) was the survey results are meaningless. All they said was the survey was by telephone and included 1000 registered voters.

Poll after poll, year after year they all say the same thing.

It is a shame that you do not understand statistical analysis and scientific polling methods. It is fascinating stuff. It seems that your parents really let you down when it came to the education thing.

It is not funny. It is pathedic that people cannot support their opinions with facts but instead resort to insults. I see no reason to call a person racist or ignorant. It is obvious to those who are not racist and ignorant and those who are will never realize it.

A post like this can only mean one thing-YOU are the uneducated and vile peasant. I pity you because with a heart of hate, it can only breed more ignorance. God forbid there are too many more like you in our country, what was the name they were called? Oh yeah-Nazis you hateful piece of crap.

Here's a real response:

You clearly know nothing about scientific polling methods. There are efficient, accurate ways to assess the public's views without polling everyone. If done correctly, even a relatively small number of respondents is required. Add to this the fact that three independent polls corroborate one another, further pointing to the accuracy of the findings.

You are a bigot, probably paranoid, and in way over your head.
