The results you promise from a flat tax are pure theory, not yet proven in the real world, in a modern diverse economy.
I will be on board for tax simplification a wiping out of shelters and dodges in exchange for a lower marginal rates would most likely result in an increase in revenue provided the rates aren't watered down in a ideological inspired attempt at revenue neutrality. The flat tax would represent a cut for our wealthier citizens, the treatment of capital gains would determine the size of that reduction. To offset the loss of earned income tax credit the tax structure can not be flat unless you believe raising taxes on the working poor is fair.
As far as knowing the difference between Capital gains and income tax, please research the gentleman that you are lecturing. After that we can discuss taxation, job creation and budgetary issues.
The working poor, when they file, get the money they paid back and then some. Lowering taxes for everybody frees up money, money that will be spent, invested and or saved. The ONLY time progressives give a sh*t about the working poor is when they want their vote. Progressives demonize success, demonize the wealthy and themselves so they will not been seen as cruel, or without a heart when in reality they laugh (all the way to the bank)at the poor for believing their BS! When are people, like you, going to realize IT ISN'T THEIR(GOVERNMENTS) MONEY, IT IS OUR MONEY THAT WE MUST GIVE TO THEN UNDER THE THREAT OF A GUN!
As far as your education, you need to get your money back!

Thanks the Lord for brave patriotic Americans such as David Koch and the Charles brothers who stand up to the deceit of Obama and his liberal media of crooks. Except few liberal minded spineless losers such as Carl Rove, McCain and McConnell, GOP is determined to stop the disastrous Obama care and save millions of elderly and poor from death under no doctors, no hospitals and no medication under the Obama health scam. The distrustful lying dictator Obama has no friends in America or all over the world except the food stamp liberals that go blind after him over the cliff to destruction of America. GOP speaker Boehner must go ‘on the offense’ against the charlatan naked Emperor Obama and he should not be defensive when he stands up against evil dictator ‘like a rock’ to save America from becoming liberal evil dictatorship. First time in US history a president is warning the US Congress to punish the American people if his dictatorial orders for failed health scam will not be obeyed. For GOP it is "now or never" as GOP must stand up to the dictator Obama who seeks trashing the US constitution and transform America to the sick country for the sick and poor of the world.. The American people expect GOP Congressmen to protect America from the dictator Obama who uses IRS and NSA henchmen to fight his conservative political opponents like never before in US history. The American people will never forgive GOP leadership if they surrender to the evil regime of Obama and his pathetic liberal hordes and liberal media of America haters.

Here are a few thing the friars taught me
First on the working poor getting their money back, do you know why?
It is because of the fact we don't have a flat income tax....Because of the earned income tax credit.
If we had a flat tax those people would pay at the same rate as the very rich...unless you devise a mechanism that will make you flat tax ...not so flat.(advocates usually using a standard deduction)
As far as demonizing success...if your applying that to me....again you failed to do homework.
I am all for having a tax form that we can fit on a form the size of a post card...eliminate loop holes and deductions. Lower rates accordingly.

How much of other peoples money do you feel you are entitled to? The only entity you don't b*tch about is government. Government forced bankers to loan money to people that could not pay it back. Only 6-7% of the home owners could not pay their mortgage but it crashed the whole system. The people paying for that are the ones doing the right thing, paying their bills. Money got tighter, credit card interest rate went up all to recoup money lost when people OVERSPENT and could not pay what they owed. Business' are not in the business to lose money. They have payroll AND TAXES to pay. Government will NEVER go without but you will to make ends meet.

eliminate loop holes and deductions

What do you think earned income tax credit is?

You kinda contradicted your argument, a little!

There should NOT be an income tax. The money you make is the money you keep. Tax what you spend not what you make AND spend!

Incase you missed ...here is quote from a post from yesterday

... "Bi- Partisan moment Sen Coburn Has proposed legislation to restrict the use of Unobligated funding. The benefit would be tighter budgeting...."
----------
The Gov't wastes and misspends trillions...
The Gov't is currently bought and sold by rich guys...
----------
The president should have to answer a lot of questions about Drones and on domestic spying I doubt that it is impeachable how ever this Presidential mistake is an opportunity to address the issue and set strict limits that include some type of process that respects civil rights.
----------
Maybe i just missed it ...but when have you said a single bi partisan word?
Name two things that Obama has done correctly......

I know well what it is...but i never recommended a flat tax nor did I say every deduction must go and the earned income tax credit does a fine job of giving the tax code more a progressive profile.
Much like Romney i failed to detail which deductions should go....
Why should a company making a large profit like GE was a year ago ... by using loop holes and deduction the relieved a large refund.
Why should a second..or third house be deduct able?
Or lunch with me?

The concept of using the income tax as purely a luxury tax and using a value added tax to make up the difference. A VAT that exempts food ...medical and clothing would have the correct progressive touch.
The reduction in IRS power would be a positive.

True everyone has one.
My recommendation would be,
Leave in place Earned income tax credit and the deduction for a single home. The first gives an advantage to the poor the second is beneficial to the middle class.
All income regardless of source will be taxed as income, Capital gains and inheritance included.
Reduce the marginal rates accordingly.
The result every one from a minimum wage worker to the CEO of a major corp fills out the same tax form, that would be one page and a high school student could calculate.
The IRS would have to get rid of most of its employees and power.
If you are really daring a value added tax would make income tax a luxury tax on the rich, as it was first meant to be.
