Bush says rebates going out Monday should help economy

Apr 25, 2008 Full story: Topeka Capital-Journal 645

“The money is going to help Americans offset the high prices we're seeing at the gas pump, the grocery store, and also give our economy a boost to help us pull out of this economic slowdown”

President Bush said tax rebates will start going out Monday, earlier than previously announced, and should help Americans cope with rising gasoline and food prices, as well as aid a slumping economy. via Topeka Capital-Journal

ya talk like a retarded. bush is a human being, not a god. anyone who will be taking his place in the future would not do better. the economy is down because we all are stupid, just like a low income family where adults make 8 bucks/hour and go to spend their paychecks in the casinos, bars and cigarettes and later come back to blame on deficit. don't want your check ? give to me. i know where to use it. if all your unwanted checks, i go to buy a Lamborghini!<quoted text>

Truly, "gas" is all you can take from his rebate comments? Is this an analogy and I'm missing it? Please take off your blinders and see the world-not just your backyard.

So where the heck is this money going to get us. I stopped for groceries today, filled the gas tank, paid the utility bill, the fuel bill, and then proceeded to pay the monthly car insurance. Well, our stimulus check will put a little money in the pocket but its not going to help very much.
I agree -- it would be smart to stop buying, stop working, stay home and watch the sky, but darn it -- the prices will be higher tomorrow, the bills will have to be paid so no luck in taking the day off and dreaming the American dream. We paid $3.68 for gas today!!!!!!!
If we spend this money buying a new HD tv at Wal Mart or a Xbox at ABC wharehouse, how does this help the econamy? Seems like the rich get richer and the poor just still stay poor!

Have you ever indulged in econ 101? No? Gee, Bush gives us money, and if we are team players, we will spend the money, and abra cadabra, the economy is "stimulated" with the money in play. You know, like Monopoly, you land on "free parking", get money, buy more property. Here's the tricky part so pay attention. You buy more property than you would have previously because you have "extra" money.

So true. Inflation has already ate those rebate checks up. Just how greedy and low can US politicians and big corps go?
Everytime an employee or retiree gets a raise, the business sector just raises their prices. That makes the US chamber of commerce a terrorist organization just as much as al quada.
never thought of it quite like that but you may be right.

Okay, so you are a little stuck in a rut. How's this-must have money in play so that there is a game at all. Not about Walmart and gas stations. No money no game. To personalize at your level, no money goin round, no money for your paycheck.

If my family gets a check i can assure you it will NOT support gas companies!! I would encourage people to save it, because it is going to get worse before it can even begin to get better. Maybe use it for a house payment and for some people it may cover more than one payment. I don't agree with this plan, it isn't going to help the economy in the long run, however we could all move to another country to get our jobs back!! Then they wouldn't have to worry about this economy, they could all sit on Capitol Hill and play screw each other instead of all the American taxpayers!! I have totally lost all faith in our countrys govt.
