Some family members don't want the medals; they want 'compensation', one saying she can't spend a medal. First, this was fifty years ago. Second, there were convictions for the bombing. Third, if the families were due compensation, it was from those found guilty.
It was a tragic day when those little girls died, but these folks cheapen their memories with any claims to be entitled to 'compensation'. From whom do they think they are owed? Me? Not a chance.
Honor those little girls' memories by gracefully accepting the medals on their behalf.
