God bless these families. I find it despicable that they are being used as political pawns by this administration.

And the sad part is that they now advocate for gun control legislation that they know, in the hearts, will not keep incidents like Sandy Hook from happening. Approaching it from a purely emotional perspective, they're following the lead of mis-guided politicians acting purely on the motivation to rack up political points.

Any Gun Control laws gained because of Sandy Hook will only end up taking guns out of the hands of law abiding people who have been obeying the laws all the while. The criminals will continue to be armed and continue to to commit crime ...even more now knowing that less people will be abe to defend themselfs.

This using of the victims families clearly shows the callousness of these career politicians. If one could take the cloak of this tragedy off of these leaders involved it would reveal policies and people much more horrible than the shooting itself.

Obama will must assuredly roast in hell for using these poor families as pawns in his political games. He truly is the biggest ass in American history.

What is despicable is your apparent willingness to let other families suffer the same fate.

To the authors of posts 1-8, you are not only fools, but the worst kinds of hypocrites. I just hope it doesn't take a tragedy close to home, for you to see the error of your ways.

How could it be otherwise. Having to collect your dead child’s body ripped apart by multiple gunshot wounds, rendering some almost unrecognizable, is more than any parent should have to bear.

This crusade these parents have embarked on may be the one thing that has kept them sane and not given in to the overwhelming grief and horror brought about by the death of their child.

I hope their efforts reach fruition helping to prevent any future Sandy Hook tragedies.

Well said, Marichu. I wonder how many of these parents were pro-gun prior to Sandy Hook.

There seems to be 11 or 12 vocal anti gun families. I would bet the ranch on they were anti gun before SH also. I wonder why we don't hear too much from the Dad of one victim that said just enforce the current laws and nothing else needed. This infringement of the 2A was based on emotion and the socialist liberal anti gunners seizing a tragedy for their benefit. Based on two recent Supreme Court cases most if not all of this restrictive legislation will be overturned.

The presidents proposed universal background check would not have effected the sandy hook shooting anyway since it was his mothers gun and kept in a safe.

A universal background check sounds kind of benign, who could be against that. Until you realize that it is effectively unenforceable without a national gun registration. And that is exactly why they want it so they can have an excuse to build a national registration system which will be followed by confiscation.

The only way fruition will be achieved is too lock up dangerous criminals and institutionalize the violently insane. The answer is not by disarming a law abiding citizenry that is merely looking protect themselves from those that prey on society.

The legislation they favor puts the ball in the criminal's court.

Few people would think that Sandy Hook was not a very sad day but one must not lose sight on what is and what is not effective solutions.

Their emotion is understandable to say the least but I am not my brothers keeper and my rights shall not be lost to knee jerk reactionary legislation which is a clear and present danger to our Constitution and the very foundation of our republic.

Have you actually read what these parents have requested??? Not one of them is advocating repealing the second amendment.

From the article:
It (the parents) asks them to vote to expand background checks for gun purchases, strengthen laws against gun trafficking and ban ammunition magazines with more than 10 rounds.

Where do you see “The answer is not by disarming a law abiding citizenry that is merely looking protect themselves from those that prey on society.”?

You need not fear these grief-stricken individuals and the meager requests they’ve made.
Your misguided, unreasonable fear would be comical if it wasn’t so tragic.

So it is OK if just 10 children were killed ?
