Gay marriage

The U.S. Supreme Court is considering two controversial cases involving whether same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry: Proposition 8, California's 2008 ban on gay marriage, and the Defense of Marriage Act, which since 1996 has defined marriage for federal purposes as a union between a man and a woman. <quoted text>the people that know your cult's god didn't even get his own creation story correct. a real god would know such things. a real god wouldn't lie about the noachian flood. a real god wouldn't condone slavery. a real god wouldn't contradict himself; certainly the god of your cult can't as he is infallible, yet he does just that.
a real god wouldn't be made up of re-hashed myths from previous religious cults.
the god of your cult is a myth.

yep..the cult mantra..retreat to repeating it when confronted with the facts.

your god is a proven myth. you are a cult member.

So can you prove the Noachian flood happened? no you cannot,. it is proven that it never happened. your god lied to you...again.

was the earth and all it's plants created before the sun? no it was not.

your god lied to you...again.(actually, it was your cult that lied to you. your god was made up by humans.)

a) No one can disprove faith, because it has no basis in quantifiable reality.
b) faith is utterly irrelevant in matters of civil law, because out constitution forbids making laws respecting an establishment of religion.
c) your regular return to arguments of faith clearly illustrate your lack of understanding of civil law and the US Constitution.

So you have even one shred of evidence to support that your cult's fgod does actually exist?

as yet, there isn't one shred of evidence for any of the thousands of gods or goddesses man has invented. not one. nada. zip. zilch. zippo. none.

Proven by whom??? If it is proven, certainly this would be an 'easy' question to answer....

It is not my position to 'prove' anything... YOU made the claim that the myth was PROVEN....(is this more of your 'facts') factboy???

PROVEN BY WHOM??????? Should be an easy enough question to answer...

If you take religion out of the picture (I am a gay Jewish/Chritstian male)then what do you have left? As a matter of fact I think it should be as though If gay people can't get married straight people shouldn't be allowed to either. If two people love each other why should they not be permitted to marry one another? I have been with my boyfriend for the past 3 years and when I am 18 we plan to get married (I live in Maryland so it is legal now). Incase you didn't know, originally gay couples wanted to get married for health benefits. Say your partner is in the hospital (this will go for gay couples and unmarried straight couples) and you want to see them but you can't because you are not married so you aren't considered family, how would that make you feel knowing your partner is sick and you can't be there to comfort them? Gay people are just as human as straight people are and should have the same rights. If not, are we really considered "equal"?

Responsible procreation....

Wouldn't that be stupid to say children don't deserve to have their biological parents married and in the home, cause 'you' can't do the same thing?????

I don't know...why can't that mother marry her consenting adult son????

Got news for you....if your boyfriend has been with you for three years and he was over the age of 18...he's a pedafile....

The problem you just described is a 'hospital policy' problem...not a 'marriage' problem...

<quoted text>The protection of private contracts between individuals is in the constitution. As for marriage I have no problem with anyone entering into a marriage with whoever they wish. I object to the tax benefits and other special benefits given to any married couple.
And I oppose churches being tax exempt.

As for the other "special benefits" marriage gives is hospital visitation. Read the story listed below and pay attention to the posts #17 and #18.

http://www.topix.com/forum/news/gay/T6L2KKKPO...

It about a man who has a medical power of attorney with his husband because his state doesn't allow SSM. He was thrown out of the room by a relative and hospital staff and handcuffed! Why? The sister didn't want to visit her brother with him in the room!

I was lucky. Back in 1988 my partner's mother drove 3 hours from Wilmington DE to Baltimore MD to make sure the hospital let me see her son as he died of cancer.

So you go on and on about the tax benefits of marriage while I notice you never utter a peep about alimony, child support or pre-nups. Yet something tells me if you ever have a chance at some of those benefits you'd take them.

BTW didn't your Mom and Dad claim you on their taxes for 18 years?

Saulian Heresy.

BTW the R.C.C has records of rites that "married" people of the same sex from the middle ages.
